Anyone familiar with this portrait?

So, I was checking some of my silver coins, reading about their history and shit and then this fella from France popped up

I googled for over half an hour before I gave up. I just couldn't find any info about this portrait, other than the obvious, that it's made by Pierre Turin as the coin reads, a french sculptor/ medalist who lived from 1891-1968. Turin doesn't to be that popular either, he doesn't even have a Wikipedia page dedicated to him 🤷

My brain won't rest until I have an answer so feel free to chip in if you have any idea.

If I was too take a guess I'd say it looks like a modern portrait of Hermes :/

As for the coin per se, it's a 10 francs from 1930:

In case you wonder, the other side reads Liberté, égalité, fraternité for "liberty, equality, fraternity", the national motto of France.

Almost 7 grams of silver. Not bad. And imo a beautiful and very elegant coin!

This rang a bell with me, and I remember seeing pictures of a woman who represented the french republic. Having looked it up on wikipedia, it could be right - Marianne, who is the 'national personification of the french replublic':

No problem - I did wonder when I saw it. I seem to recall seeing a painting in one of the museums in Paris, quite a long time ago - and it was of the personification of the French Republic - a woman dressed in a long robe and adorned with the French colours - with a shield, and I'm sure the crown of laurels. I've no idea how I remembered that !

Wow the coin is really nice especially the last one with the words written on it.

Offhand Hermes would be my guess too. My second thought was the head kind of looks like one of those 1920s hats that were popular with women.

Then I scrolled to the comments and followed @hoosie's link. That looks even closer than my guesses.

Either way, cool coin!

Cool coins, @trumpman. The Beauty, on the French Coin, may be Marianne, like France's, American Miss Liberty.

@hoosie is correct, that's Marianne, one of the symbol of the French Republic.
On French coins you can find Marianne or La Semeuse (standing lady sowing grains) or a tree.

if you type "woman portrait on modern french coins" you'll get the wikipedia article in the 5th result, or at least it did for me :P

I will concur with the other comments already stating her identification as Marianne, the personification of France. I do have a few French Silver coins too.

Nice coin and it looks like the people in the comment section have agreed on the answer. Sometimes it's just better to ask.

Yes this is Marianne who is also on the Marianne/Rooster the famous French gold coin which after 2nd world war was made again (restrike as gold was gone to NAzis) with the old dyes/dies (the old years were used once more).

As my wife is also named Marianne I started with the Rooster/MArianne in 2014.

This coin is simple, elegant and quite mysterious, I think one of the reasons is that there is not much information about it on the internet!
