Looks like my leap of faith, transacting with an anon on Facebook has paid off and I didn't get scammed, lmao!

Just look all these beauties I got:

All Greek, all old, all made with silver! A nice part of the history to own! (Note: 2 euro coin for comparison)

Soon more posts about each and every of these little babies!

But first I'll try to give em a baking soda bath to make em more shiny! I read it's a relatively safe (for the coins) yet effective method. If you got any tips/opinions on this please let me know!

Meanwhile, I ordered some more from him, here's a sneak peak

I wouldn't use baking soda. Also clearing their patina away makes them less valuable. If I would have to use something I would use cleaning compounds for non ferrous metals but that's only with coins that have a very thick crust on them

I don't think you have exactly what I use to clean coins in Greece and can't find how it's called in English

Backing soda is good for whitening teeth as well. What's your oldest coin?

🤣

From these ones, the earliest one is 1873 but I have some ancient ones my parents found in the field some decades ago

The coins look so nice and retro. Also I hear that old quarters us were made from pure silver. I bought a jewellery dip for about $9. ( All the jewellers sell this ) it's just a liquid in a tub and you put in your precious metal in for about 5 minutes. The results is very good then you just wipe clean. Originally bought for my gold but have tried it on silver !

I thought you had momentarily stopped buying silver coins. 😂
My numismatic advice is don't touch them. Collectors like them with their original patina. Also sure they have more value as collectibles than silver. Brightness equals devaluation.

3rd photo from the top, top left coin = what is going on in that scene? Looks like a dude getting a bj while he's lounging back on horseback

It's nice to know you didn't get scammed. I wonder why he is trying to sell off his coins at a discount though.

Fortunately, your move paid off. I can imagine the amount of scamming currently going down in this sector with the current economic chaos. Collectible and valuable coins become even more so...

This era of coins is exactly the same as what I like to buy. Silver, but modern enough to still be able to relate to.

Awesome finds.

As has been mentioned in the comments, don't clean them! This doesn't add to their value at all, so try to keep silver coins as you find them.

-Goes back onto eBay to add to my pre-1966 Australian Florin collection.
