Sexy reindeer!

Ready for another sexy piece from my collection?

This one comes from Canada and is amongst my favorite standard circulation coins from said country.

A Canadian 25 cents minted in 1968:

received_767362044481931.jpeg

Much like my other Canadian pieces, this is a plain yet beautiful coin.

On the one side we have a MILF queen Elizabeth from when she was 39 years old and in Latin the inscription "ELIZABETH II D · G · REGINA" for "Elizabeth II Queen by the Grace of God"

On the other we have a reindeer, the face value, the inscription "CANADA" and the minting date. Reindeers are a common sight in Canada so I guess it makes sense to have them featured in one of their coins. I love animals so naturally I have a special spot in my stack for animal themed coins! 🥰

The edge of the coin is pretty basic too

Silver wise, this coin is just 0.500 purity, with a weight of 5.05 g, so about 2.5 g of silver. Today's spot price is 0.61$ per g so this coin is worth today 1.5$. Not bad for a 25 cents coin 🤣

Fun fact: Interestingly, Canadian Quarters in 1968 were issued both in silver and nickel. Determining the good ones is easy. Just use a magnet. The silver coins like mine are non magnetic. Easy!

The coin has about the same size with a regular euro coin:

As always, I will conclude the post with some extra info from numista in case you are interested in the finer details:

A nice piece in your collection. It will be great to have it fully in silver purity, at least is still worth 1.50$. :)

Is the queen Elizabeth not of England? How come she's on the Canadian 1968 coin?

Reindeer eh? I would have called that a moose!
(But it could be my Australian understanding of animals we don't have here kicking in!) Nice coin either way!

So...nickel is magnetic! :) didn't know that.
Nice reindeer coin! and it's nice that you like animals and animal-coins :)

aah now we have some more wiki info... :P

It is one of only four elements that are magnetic at or near room temperature; the others are iron, cobalt and gadolinium. Its Curie temperature is 355 °C (671 °F), meaning that bulk nickel is non-magnetic above this temperature. [13]

Yep the Canadians are a bit chincy with the silver content. Not like US 90%.

A woman on one side and a reindeer on another? That's not strange at all. Well, is it stranger than some dude on one side and an eagle on the other? Probably not.

Nat all 1968 Canada Caribou 25 Cents are 0.500 Silver as the majority are not silver and can be picked out by a magnet, ping tone is different, and weights less.

Another way to test is the drop test, once you get used to the different noises the different purity level coins make youll be able to identify with the ting noise

Thanks for showing the real Money, @trumpman. I always though, Diana, Princess of Wales, was the prettiest & most beautiful, of them all, in more ways than one.
