A Sublime and Beautiful Sunday at Kehena - Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - June 26, 2022

Warm greetings all! 🙏 💚

This beautiful and sublime Sunday morning my partner, @kai-sunrise, and three of our property-mates, decided to go to ecstatic dance at Hawaiian Sanctuary. Since I'm presently low on funds, I chose not to go with them. Kaï was going to give a sound healing session there, so she was going to get in free (it turns out that they all got in free because they were with her...lol). I had them drop me off at Kehena, our locally beloved black-sand beach that has been clothing-optional since 1955. I spent several hours there, fron around 11AM-3PM. This is a short compilation of my journey today!

This is one of the steep, rocky trails down to Kehena. There is another trail to the beach on the other side of it.

The ocean slowly begins to make a fuller appearance from behind the trees as I go down the trail.

Looking at the coastline to the right.

And to the left, toward Kehena.

There's Kehena, appearing around the corner!

A lovely natural altar on the way down.

Another view to the right, down the coast.

The rocks straight ahead as I go down.

Kehena comes into clearer view.

This is looking back, toward the rocks I just climbed down.

Since it was still morning, there were not many people on the beach yet. Soon, however, the beach would fill with a few hundred people doing the Sunday Funday thing.

My spot in the sand.

The cliffs behind Kehena. These are those right behind where I was sitting. The logs and benches are where the drum circle would soon appear, adding to the Sunday vibe.

The view directly above where I was sitting on the beach.

The clouds were particularly lovely today.
IMG_20220626_115245651_HDR.jpg

And so was the ocean, which alternated between quite calm and smooth to intense and rough, with huge waves.

There are several trees growing on top of the cliffs that send very long roots down all the way to the beach. There are some people that climb these roots to come down to the beach, and to leave it.

This is the other end of the beach, next to the other trail to the beach. A good number of trees are growing on this side, giving it a very jungly appearance.

The rocks on the right are the second entrance/exit.

Once I left Kehena, I walked to The Lawn, in front of Seaview, where vendors and people were already beginning to congregate.

IMG_20220626_151751515_HDR.jpg

Soon this space will be filled with hundreds of people and many, many vendors. This has become quite a large weekly event over the years since I've been here.

When the drum circle is finished at the beach, it relocates here, to play into the night.

Usually after the beach I'd come to The Lawn for a few hours, but today I was hungry, and didn't want to use the money I had on food here, no matter how delicious it was. I decided to walk home a short time after arriving, to go make myself a smoothie.
IMG_20220626_154050636_HDR.jpg

Some lovely clouds and sun, just before I began walking home.
IMG_20220626_153722383_HDR.jpg

Some more beautiful sun and clouds on the walk home. I take so many photos of sun and clouds.
IMG_20220626_154252986_HDR.jpg

This is the smoothie I made for myself when I arrived back at home. It has homemade kefir from raw milk, frozen bananas (some from the property), frozen blueberries, frozen blackberries, and frozen raspberries, two Moringa leaves (from the property), a papaya with the peppery seeds (from the property), hemp seeds, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and some water. Super yummy!
IMG_20220626_185325010.jpg

I also had a craving for popcorn, so I made a round of my signature versión, with coconut oil, olive oil, pink Himalayan sea salt, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, smoked pakrika, curry, black pepper, dill, and nutritional yeast. Very delicious and very filling!

That's the end of this Sublime and Beautiful Sunday! I hope y'all enjoy the journey!

Thank you all so much for allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am deeply grateful! 🙏 💚

Nice view in many parts but some parts really looks like treacherous terrain.

Yes, that epitomizes Lower Puna; beautiful and a tad treacherous...you have to be aware of where and how you are using your feet here, that is for sure...lol.
