I live barefooted and naked, very close to Earth and Nature, in a 16-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i. I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Polish_20220714_121754649.jpg

Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

There is an amazing aspect of Hive that is rarely mentioned when people talk about or discuss the excellent qualities and benefits of this Blockchain. Because there are people from all over the world, and in most countries, that share the Hivesphere, we actually have an astoundingly good network of local independent journalists (you and me) who are able to give first-hand and first-person experience and perspective of what's happening in locations everywhere.

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

IMG_20230602_091447107_HDR.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

Given that I consider all mainstream (fakestream) media to be pretty much the opposite of anything accurate or true (part of an insidious echo chamber designed for social manipulation), I have immensely more faith and trust in you, my dear fellow Hivers, to report on what's actually happening where you live than any official news source. Period. We're the Hive News Network, and we cover actual events worldwide, with boots on the ground, 24/7/365!

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

IMG_20230602_091614116_HDR.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

It helps too, that Hive is a decentralized, censorship-resistant, immutable Blockchain. That's a pretty good base for a news network if you ask me! Even if certain front-ends mute or hide certain posts, these posts are still on the Blockchain, and can still be viewed via other front-ends (or block explorers).

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

IMG_20230602_091728472_HDR.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

Also, because Hive is community everything (created, developed, run, managed, governed, and owned), there is no corporate or governmental control over what is posted or discussed here. That's also rather important for an actual news source.

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

IMG_20230602_091812659_HDR.jpg

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

Because of that, and unlike the talking heads on the 'news', you and I aren't paid to read a script or to say particular things, either. On Hive, too, our reputation is on the line, so doing anything to damage that, like lying or falsifying information, works against our own self-interest.

Polish_20220714_121754649.jpg

Do you see now why I trust our unofficial Hive News Network infinitely more than any 'official' news source? See, Hive is even more amazing than you thought!

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

The rainy morning turned into a sunny afternoon here in the Lower Puna jungle, making working outside far more motivating. Amazingly I had Hive completely caught up, with all tasks done, before 4PM today. I say amazingly because I've been having a more challenging time getting through all my multitudinous notifitions on my account, and all the comments, replies, and mentions on @aliveandthriving. My comment-moderation job is becoming more challenging daily, too, because more people seem to be engaging. Threads has shot the number of mentions through the roof, and every day the number of comments seems to jump. I still get it all done, but it just takes me a fair bit longer.

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

When I left the Flow House in the late afternoon, I walked around for a short while, taking some photos for a potential plant-and-garden post. With that done, I got my machete and did some clearing work on the trails, and around young bananas and coconut palms, in the front, newer, orchard. Ano came home from cocoing early today, so he helped me clear for a while too.

Polish_20220714_121631044.jpg

When I was done working for the day, I took a shower, strained out more kefir for my kefir-honey-cinnamon-cacao blend, made food, and then returned to the Flow House to do another quick round of Hive catch-up and tasks, and then to start writing this post. It was a reasonably productive day, on and off Hive.

Curating and comment sure does take up a lot of time, but its quite a key part of the community. However I do understand why some people just delegate curation out.
Love the pic of all the peppers by the way - they look great !

Hehe...yes, it certainly does, and I agree, it's an essential component, and I love it, but oh my goodness! I like doing things for myself, even if it takes longer, usually.

Thank you @hoosie! I'm happy that you appreciate it! That's one of the three Hawaiian hot pepper plants on the property producing fruit at the moment. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Ouch! I never considered that those threads and waves might add work for moderators. I never see any after all, since even if people post some they don't show up in my notifications - and that is good as far as I am concerned, but might not make the posters happy I guess 😈

I rarely use these for tipping anymore, but you seem to need one today: Don't overdo the curating/moderating, staying happy and !ALIVE is more important 💜

BTW, didn't you use to do some daily quote posts some time back? I forgot what the tag/project was. Did you simply stop, or did the project die?

Yeppers, Threads, and now Waves too, are definitely adding to the load. Also because of that the voting power for @aliveandthriving has gone lower than I've seen it before.

Thank you @treefrognada, I appreciate it. I agree with you, though if there is stuff before me to do, I'll do it. I most definitely need and want more balance in my life, however, as too much is spent on a screen, no matter how much I love what I do generally.

Yes, that was the #Index4Index initiative. It went on for a few months, but Jon, the creator of it moved on to other things. Some like myself continued with it for months more, but I too eventually stopped. I still like the idea, however, and will likely do something similar again at some point. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Hive News Network could be a new community.

I also trust what I read on Hive and nothing that I hear about in the news, neither of us watches it on tv, I do not read about it at all but my husband reads it on the computer and feels he has to tell me about it, I disagree but listen to him.

For me, the notifications would be easier if they only had the replies for us to go through.

We have some of the same plants the Wedelia keeps trying to take over everything in my yard, I have been fighting to keep it under control for years. I have the yellow bamboo, mine has green stripes and is maybe 30 feet tall or taller and I also have the red bromeliads.

Thank you so very much @myjob! It could indeed! I love it!

Yep, the 'news' has nothing to do with reporting anything accurately. The echo chamber is strong still, but there is also so much actual useful and accurate information available now if people peek outside of the echo chamber, that it's a kind of surreal juxtaposition of worlds.

I know that we can configure notifications like that in front-ends like Ecency. I do it sometimes, but often forget. It's ridiculous how many notifications I get!

Yes, I'm sure! Yes, Wedelia, or as it often goes as now, Sphagneticola trilobata, is a crazy-vigorous plant indeed! It grows insanely quickly. There are a few plants here like that. The bamboo that you have is likely Bambusa múltiplex 'Alphonse Karr'. It's a little smaller than the one in the photo, but with the same general coloration. I've been collecting several bromeliad species over the years. They are such easy and lovely plants! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

My bamboo is maybe 3 inches around, over here they call it Hawaiian green stripe. I have several bromeliads, I just got a new one that I had never seen before. The bloom gets very tall and puts out new plants on its stem.

You are popular, this is why you have so many notifications.

Ah, OK, then it's likely not the one I mentioned. That name is usually associated with a larger species, Bambusa vulgaris 'Vitatta', which also has yellow culms and random green stripes.

That bromeliad that you just got sounds fascinating! I love when I find or acquire a new plant that I've never seen before!

You're very kind! Thank you! I'm very active, so I've definitely connected with a great many people in my time here! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Thank you for sharing your new plant! It's beautiful and happy! It's actuality not a bromeliad, but rather Callisia fragrans, in the Commelinaceae family (Tradescantia, Commelina, spiderworts). There are a few interesting species like this that have the appearance of bromeliads. I don't have any of this one yet, though I do have a few very cool species in this family. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Are there any mountains in the jungle? Would love to take a pick at the fruit tress and plants found there also the food, are there any wide animals in the jungle, haven't mentioned any thou just curious

The whole Island is a giant volcano, so it's a mountain itself. Where we are the mountains tend to be smaller, more like large hills and valleys. I'm sure you'd enjoy many of the fruits that we have here! And there are so many amazing plants! We don't have many larger animals in the jungles here, wild pigs, wild chickens sometimes, mongooses, the Big Island hawk, barn owls, lots of smaller birds from everywhere, oh, and coqui frogs. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Hmmm do you have any Poisonous animals? How do you guys prevent the invasion of such animals like snakes?

0

The only animal which could be considered poisonous is the Vietnamese giant centipede, which has quite a bite. It won't kill you, but their bite is like a burning dagger. There are no native snakes in the Hawaiian Islands, though a few introduced species have become established. The only one we have around here presently is a small, harmless, blind burrowing snake. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

You are very right on Hive being a network of local news as I got information on the hike of prices in other states in Nigeria before it got to ours. It's nice you are keeping up on hive through engagements which can be time-consuming. Well done 💪🏽
