Quick Seaview Garden Update - Another New Bed Created, and Another Area Partially Cleared - Seaview, Lower Puna, Big Island, Hawaiʻi - February 24, 2022

At the end of my post yesterday I showed a photo of the next garden project I wanted to complete. Today @kai-sunrise and I got that little bit of garden creativity done. We also weeded another area that I had cleared with a machete the day before yesterday.
I weeded the area thoroughly first. Thankfully there was already some pretty good soil under the weeds, so I didn't have to add much. The bed is at the base of an Ohia (Metrosideros polymorpha), an endemic Hawaiian tree common in the are.
After the weeding was complete, I got multiple wheelbarrows of soil, and Kaï collected lava rocks (all rocks out here are lava) to place around the border of the new bed.
To finish the bed for planting, we added a good layer of mixed wood mulch.
This is the next garden project. It's going to be a crescent bed. I cleared this area with my machete the other day, and today we were able to weed one good section of it. I'll post more as this new planting bed comes together.
