Spring Equinox Sunset from the Top of the World on Mauna Kea, Big Island, Hawai'i
Warm greetings all. π π
Two Hawaiian elders led a good-sized group of people in a Spring Equinox Prayer Ceremony at various sacred sites yesterday, with one ending the day at the top of Mauna Kea. My partner/girlfriend, @kai-sunrise, and I were a part of it, and I ended up taking more than two hundred photos. Since I took so many, I'm not going to share them all in one post. This post will deal specifically with those relevant to Sunset Photography. Even with that narrow parameter, I still had to edit out quite a few.
These photos barely do justice to the majesty and beauty of what I attempted to capture. As the sun went down, it got cold fast, and I had to take breaks from taking photos, and eventually stop, because I couldn't feel my fingers any longer. The people visible in the shots were a part of the ceremony, and the domed buildings are telescopes.
I truly hope that y'all enjoy these shots. There is so much astounding beauty that I have not included here. I'll share more over time, in other posts.
Thank you all for sharing this profoundly potent and beautiful experience with me. π π
