Capturing Pleasant Memories - Accompanying Honey For A Photoshoot

I had never been part of a baby's photo shoot and was excited when my friend Honey asked me to accompany her to a photography studio for her son's photo shoot.

The photo shoot was scheduled to take place during the weekend. We chartered a cab from Honey's house and set out for the studio. Honey called the photographer to inform her that we were on our way to her studio. We got to the studio and received a warm reception from the photographer. I was pleased with her calm and friendly nature. She offered us seats and cold drinks that made us feel refreshed. The photographer and Honey later had a chat about the outfits that her son would be wearing for the shoot. I interrupted their chat and asked the photographer out of curiosity why she and Honey were discussing about her son's outfit for the shoot. She responded by telling me the outfits determine the background and set that would be used for the shoot.

The photographer asked to excused after concluding her chat with Honey. She went to prepare the set for the shoot. Pleasant music was being played the in studio. Honey and I began to discuss about the outcome of the photos we expect from the shoot. Honey was really excited as we discussed! The photographer called for us after the set for the shoot was ready. Honey wore the first outfit for her son and thus the shoot began.

Honestly I had the opinion that a baby's photo shoot would be a stroll in the park! In this case I was wrong! It is demanding task and requires a lot of improvisation. Honey's son was unable to sit firmly at the time and had to sit for most of his shots. We thought of a way to make him sit firmly in order to capture good photos. The photographer's initially suggestion to place stacks of books behind him for support while she took several shots seemed feasible and worthy to be tried. We decided to act on it. We arranged stacks of books behind Honey's son and moved back for the photographer to shoot. Unfortunately, he fell to his side before the photographer could take a shot! He lost his balance and looked nervous. He began to cry thereafter but was pacified by his mother. We tried to shoot again and decided to place a pillow behind him this time. This provided the support he needed to sit firmly but did not fit into the concept of the shoot. The photographer was not pleased with the photo and had to remove the pillow from the set.

We began to brainstorm on how to get what we wanted from the shoot. We tried several ideas but did not achieve what we wanted. Honey's son was also becoming exhausted from the different positions we placed him in for the shoot. Honey eventually suggested that her son be allowed to sit on his own while we sing nursery rhymes and songs for him. This idea worked to everyone's amazement! The photographer swung into action and took many lovely shots. The attempts and efforts we made eventually paid off. We were able to device a method that worked. I had a lot of fun during the shoot. I also learnt about the value of persistence from the shoot. It turned out to be a pleasant experience!

Thanks for reading,
Have a splendid day folks.

Thank you for your compliment! It feels good to know you like the photos! It took a lot of hard work! We were elated when we found a way to overcome the challenges we initially had with the shoot. We were happy our persistence paid off and our resolve to get it right did not take a toll on Honey's son.

One thing I have learnt from photoshoots is that it is never easy to get the desired outcome. I'm glad Honey decided to allow the little champ do his thing.

The pictures are lovely and he's so cute🥰

I agree with you, it is not easy to get your desired outcome. I had the notion that a baby's photo shoot was an easy task but got enlightened when I got to the studio. It's a lot of work! I am glad I was part of the experience!

Thank you for your compliment! I have a feeling Honey's son would be on cloud nine hearing your compliment!
