Day Jobs Suck

Day Jobs Suck

Or at least mine does.

Truck driving, its not just a job, its...

Back in the late 70's I was a young (under 10 yrs old) kid when a plethora of movies and tv series were released. Convoy, Smoky and The Bandit, BJ and the Bear, White Line Fever, etc. They all glamorized and brought the American truck driver into the mainstream spotlight.

While Convoy showcased law enforcements aggressiveness and undue targeting towards the trucking industry and Smokey and the Bandit was similar but added a comedic element.

Both of these movies were pivotal points for me. I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I was going to drive the open road with nobody telling me what to do. Yeah, what a load of shit that was.

Flash forward nearly 30 yrs later and an unknown amount of miles later. I'm supposed to be a "local Michigan driver". Somehow Im in Kentucky with 2 stops out of 7 left to go. Plus a pick to make in Bowling Green before I head back home this afternoon.

Thanks to the electronic log books its not looking like I will be at my house until Saturday morning. Big shout out to you lawmakers that made those stupid rules. Like a computer can decide whether I'm personally rested enough to drive.

Life gets in the way

I had just signed up Click, Track Profit and started going throught the lessons merely hours before I got dispatched. So that training got hampered in a heart beat. Also working with some of my trucker friends to bring Break 19 Podcast to mspwaves.com. So that got put on hold for a couple of days.

All is not lost

I can do some of this on my phone so it's not a total hold. I can do my shownotes for Saturday show. And talk with the boys on the phone all day.

But then there is hive. Daily, almost hourly I can be reminded and encouraged from the fellow users such as @jongolson and @pixiepost have the most heart felt and encouraging content I've ever seen on any social media. While they may not be targeted towards me specifically they seem to always be what I need to hear at that specific time. And I thank them for that!

But this is all I have time for this morning. I do have some more in depth posts Ive been writing on the laptop and will be posting those when I can get it online.

Being mobile 6 days a week sucks. But thats truckin for ya. To finish the sub heading.

... it's a lifestyle and an adventure!

Ah man I feel for you.
I could not handle that job at all.
Some days are great...but when it goes bad...
A driver today showed me a photo of one of their trucks fully engulfed in flames.

I receive trucks at the local major grocery store and seeing what they do.
Whewweee!

Drive safe!
There are too many slack jawed chowder heads on the road.
I would just be constantly yelling at fools if I tried to be a truck driver :)

I will set my phone to record the audio some day when driving through a large city. Im pretty sure it will have a NSFW tag on it when it was released. Lol!

Wow, you really described the trucking lifestyle well. I can't even imagine what it's like being on the road all the time, even though my uncle was one for years. Some of it seems like fun, but I can imagine that's only a little part of it. I commend you for doing so!

And thank you so much for your kind words. It really is a different atmosphere here on Hive & Ctptalk. So many people inspire me here & @jongolson is the one who brought me here at a time I really needed it. I will always be grateful to him. We are honored to have you in our community & I have NO doubt you will be super successful. :)

Keep crushing it & know we got you! :) Always reach out when we can help! 💚

I reallu do love your posts. They are always uplifting and makes me feel great about coming to hive. I just wish there were more hours in a day.

I should post some behind the scenes vids of trucking. It's really not as bad as it was when I first stay driving. Depending on what part if the country you're in truckers are pretty much catered to. Lol.

Thank you so kindly. I am really glad they help you. I switch gears a lot - inspirational to crazy to humor. Rinse & repeat 🤣🤣. I do understand about having enough hours in a day. It can be super time consuming so when RL gets in the way, it can become challenging at times lol.

You have such a great energy & yes, I think the "behind the scenes" video would be great. You can share your story with us. Personalize it. 💗

I am looking forward to your show again as well. Let me know when you do so I don't miss it 😉💚

I just did exactly that. Well almost. I did a video taking a tour of the dashboard and glance around of the truck. Its encoding on 3Speak right now.

Might just make a daily vlog from the truck, lol.
You all RAWK! Thank you for the inspiration!

Truck driving is a tough career choice, always gone on the road with long days and hours. I considered doing this at one point but didn't want to work all the hours away from home. You're in a great place with CTP this is the best and most supportive community you will find.
