¡Hola amigos de Hive! Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi opinión sobre una interesante película dirigida por Dean Israelite. Proyecto Almanaque es un largometraje que capta los temas referentes a los viajes en el tiempo de una manera muy original.

Hello friends of Hive! Today I want to share with you my opinion about an interesting movie directed by Dean Israelite. Proyecto Almanaque is a feature film that captures the themes of time travel in a very original way.

¿De qué trata la película?
En la película se nos presenta al protagonista, David Raskin, un estudiante prodigio de secundaria que, junto a su hermana y su grupo de amigos, construyen una máquina del tiempo a partir de investigaciones realizadas por el difunto padre de David. Juntos, descubrirán lo magnifico y peligroso que puede llegar a ser viajar en el tiempo ¿Usarán la máquina para el bien o para el mal?

What is the film about?
In the film we are introduced to the protagonist, David Raskin, a high school prodigy who, along with his sister and their group of friends, build a time machine based on research carried out by David's late father. Together, they will discover how magnificent and dangerous time travel can be. Will they use the machine for good or evil?

Mi opinión sobre la película:
Proyecto Almanaque es un filme que utiliza la técnica de cámara en mano o handheld camera. Dándonos así un punto de vista personal del grupo de amigos, pues vivimos la experiencia a través de la cámara de video que sostienen los mismos.

Vi la película un par de veces. Es una película con un argumento bastante sencillo, un grupo de amigos con distintos problemas personales construyen una máquina del tiempo para solucionar los mismos.

A pesar de tener una trama sencilla, es bastante entretenida, no se siente lenta ni apresurada. El primer acto de la misma, te engancha desde el inicio, ya que sientes empatía por el protagonista; así mismo, comprendes sus problemas familiares y económicos, queriendo saber como podrá buscarle una solución. La trama se torna más interesante cuando vemos los primeros indicios de viajes en el tiempo. David encuentra una videocámara de su padre, que almacenaba un vídeo de su séptimo cumpleaños. Lo curioso de este video es que en un fragmento de la cinta, David pudo observarse a si mismo de adulto, lo cual era imposible, pues en ese entonces tenía solo siete años.

Junto a sus amigos, intenta buscarle una solución a aquella incógnita. A través, de distintas investigaciones se percatan de que su padre ocultaba una especie de artefacto que era nada más y nada menos que un prototipo de máquina del tiempo.

Durante toda la película se hace énfasis en el trabajo en equipo y en usar la máquina de forma prudente. Sin embargo, esto no es así. Personalmente, pude observar como a pesar de que el grupo de amigos utilizaba la máquina bajo reglas estrictas, no dejaban de viajar al pasado para obtener beneficios personales, sin importar las consecuencias que trajeran los mismos.

La película muestra vidas adolescentes, llenas de decisiones precipitadas y poco responsables. Me pareció bastante acertado el hecho de que los protagonistas tomaran decisiones imprudentes, pues no olvidemos que son adolescentes. Con la posibilidad en tus manos, ¿Quién no viajaría al pasado para ir a ese concierto que nunca pudiste ver? No obstante, a causa de ese tipo de placeres, pudieron presenciar las consecuencias de sus actos.

En el tercer acto de la película, se plasma como el grupo de amigos se da cuenta de sus errores, pues sus viajes codiciosos trajeron consecuencias al presente. Opino que estuvo bastante bien que comprendieran los verdaderos problemas de la imprudencia, así mismo el hecho de aprender a tener responsabilidad. Todos estaban de acuerdo en deshacer el viaje más divertido que habían hecho, todos excepto nuestro protagonista. El cual decidió viajar solo para arreglar las cosas de otra manera.

Considero, que los últimos minutos de la película pudieron ser mejores. Ya que, a pesar de que son adolescentes, hay situaciones que el protagonista pudo solucionar de una manera sencilla, aplicando el sentido común. Sin embargo, pude notar que el director intentó forzar un poco el final para que hubiera una especie de bucle en la historia. Estos minutos de conveniencias se pueden notar bastante. Pues, hay algunos errores en las escenas finales, producidos por el repentino apresuro de la trama. Estos errores se reflejan en los viajes en el tiempo y la verdad no tienen mucho sentido.

My opinion about the film:
Project Almanac is a film that uses the handheld camera technique. Thus giving us a personal point of view of the group of friends, since we live the experience through the video camera that they hold.
I saw the movie a couple of times. It is a movie with a fairly simple plot, a group of friends with different personal problems build a time machine to solve them.
Despite having a simple plot, it is quite entertaining, it does not feel slow or rushed. The first act of it hooks you from the beginning, since you feel empathy for the protagonist; Likewise, you understand their family and economic problems, wanting to know how they can find a solution. The plot becomes more interesting when we see the first signs of time travel. David finds his father's camcorder, which stored a video of his seventh birthday. The curious thing about this video is that in a fragment of the tape, David was able to observe himself as an adult, which was impossible, because at that time he was only seven years old.
Together with his friends, he tries to find a solution to that unknown. Through different investigations, they realize that their father was hiding a kind of artifact that was nothing more and nothing less than a prototype of a time machine.
Throughout the film there is an emphasis on teamwork and using the machine wisely. However, this is not so. Personally, I was able to observe how, despite the fact that the group of friends used the machine under strict rules, they did not stop traveling to the past to obtain personal benefits, regardless of the consequences that they brought.
The film shows adolescent lives, full of hasty and irresponsible decisions. The fact that the protagonists made reckless decisions seemed quite right to me, because let's not forget that they are teenagers. With the possibility in your hands, who would not travel to the past to go to that concert that you could never see? However, because of those kinds of pleasures, they were able to witness the consequences of their actions.
In the third act of the film, it is reflected how the group of friends realizes their mistakes, because their greedy trips brought consequences to the present. I think it was quite good that they understood the real problems of recklessness, as well as the fact of learning to have responsibility. Everyone agreed to undo the funniest trip they'd ever taken, everyone except our protagonist. Which decided to travel alone to fix things in another way.
I think that the last minutes of the film could have been better. Since, despite the fact that they are teenagers, there are situations that the protagonist could solve in a simple way, applying common sense. However, I could tell that the director tried to force the ending a bit so that there would be some sort of loop in the story. These minutes of conveniences can be quite noticeable. Well, there are some mistakes in the final scenes, caused by the sudden rush of the plot. These errors are reflected in time travel and do not really make much sense.

Pensamientos finales y puntuación:
Bien. En aspectos generales, opino que Proyecto Almanaque es una película bastante entretenida e interesante, con una trama sencilla pero mejorable. Es una película que puedes ver varias veces; sin embargo, después de verla por primera vez, la esencia y el factor sorpresa de la misma, desaparecen por completo.

Mi calificación es un 6/10. Como dije, es una película entretenida y para nada aburrida, pero a nivel de guion y trama, hay muchos aspectos que pueden mejorar significativamente.

Final thoughts and rating:
Good. In general terms, I think that Project Almanac is a quite entertaining and interesting film, with a simple but improvable plot. It is a film that you can see several times; however, after seeing it for the first time, the essence and the surprise factor of it, completely disappear.
My rating is a 6/10. As I said, it's an entertaining movie and not boring at all, but at the script and plot level, there are many aspects that can be significantly improved.
