Mathematics Is All I Long For

Teaching profession is one kind of job people really underestimate, we rarely see any student who will raise up his/her hand anytime they ask the who want to become a teacher kind of question, as if the profession is really a bad one. Most times, I wasn't that surprised because if I remember vividly, our parent back then doesn't support it when their children dreamt of becoming a teacher in the future, I don't blame them because they see it as a poor profession and they don't expect to spend a lot on your education just for you to be a teacher, and on the other side, the country isn't helping at all, so on an average, it is one profession many do stay away from. But to think of it, we all will surely pass through this teaching stage one way or the other especially doing our NYSC year, teaching is the most common offer they do give everyone.

Back then in school, I do study most of my teachers a lot, I think that was what actually help me build up my interest in most subjects, I do have my core subjects which I love and vice versa and most do depend how our teachers relate with us, I didnt attend the best school nor do we have the best teachers, but one thing I love about them is that they make sure you understand what they teach. So If I turn out to be a teacher, in as much as I love biology, I will always pick mathematics over it because that is my best subject. I love calculations a lot and I noticed it when I was in Jss 2, we had one math teacher back then that made it simple for us, the calculations were so easy even though that is the major issue to some students, but once you know the formular, you will be able to solve anything in math.

unlike other subject where we have to keep reading and cramming the words, just that i didn't further in Math after school, had to study physiology which is in line with biology also really cool and easy to understand because it deals with life majorly. My first teaching experience was during nysc, we weren't chance to join others during teaching practice, we were in school, reading all our life out with no teaching experience at all, it really affect most of us, when I was posted to one school as my primary place of assignment, I was fidgeting, scared because I don't know what to do and it was way obvious that the teachers were laughing at me, I was to teach SS1-3 biology and the first day, I was actually talking fast and the student were just smiling because they knew, that was the first time but with time I was able to adjust and I do enjoy teaching them even though I would have prefer it was math because of the understanding and simplicity. All I can say is that, teaching is fun, you just have to develop that feeling for it and as long as you have a subject you love, you will surely be fine
