Building a Long Term Crypto Fund for a client. I need you !

avatar

Hello HODLers, Hiveans and Lions,

I believe the HIVE Blockchain and its little cub Leofinance was built for the situation I am encountering.

I have been selected to manage a potential crypto fund of wealthy individual of c.$3-5mns. These investors are wealthy individuals who want to invest in the crypto space but are neither tech-savvy enough or have the time to go down the rabbit hole.

The investment horizon would be 4-5 years. We would be investing using platforms such as Coinbase Pro / Kraken / FTX / etc...

Therefore we might be able to generate some yield on assets such as BTC/ETH/Stablecoins but we would not take part of any LP style DeFi project. As the client and I want the custody to remain in a CEX in case everything goes to hell, therefore the hacking risk will not be haunting me.

The Portfolio

I came out with a first draft of a Crypto Investment Portfolio and would love to have your feedbacks !

image.png

N.B: BTC / ETH and Stablecoins would be lended on a CEX (I know the yield sucks).

I go deeper into each section in my draft but I guess I don't have to do this with such crypto experts !

What should I buy and HODL for the next 2-3 years?

I believe NFT and blockchain gaming will explode as it will turn the roles around while everyone is happy - players will earn money for their time spent in game, so IMHO very big thing considering it is massive industry

Yup 👍 I totally agree, I just think every project is making their NFTs to get free money but in the end people will understand which one are worth it. To be worth it, either a limited art made by a well-known artist or an NFT art giving other bonuses inside an ecosystem (yield bonus, lower fees, playable…)

I think RUNE is one of the horses I would bet on.

Indeed, even if the « hacks » are kind of scary. It could be in the layer 1 allocation.
Any other projects I should look at ?

IMO, the ecosystem of STELLAR is also evolving pretty well, in silence for the moment

There are many good coins to buy what you need to do is to investigate the coin and know their origin before you will invest in any coin.
For me try to invest in altcoin now down to invest in BTC and Ethereum.

👍🏻 I really like to broad diversification of the portfolio. And congratulations to the won mandate.
🙋🏼‍♂️ Only thing I miss is the Ada Coin and I would personally probably invest a slightly bigger part into BTC.
And where is our beloved Hive coin? 😋

Hello 👋 mate !
Thank you for the nice comment. I have fundamentals issues with ADA and I might be wrong but I am not impressed (sorry).
Hive would be in the NFT/gaming bucket or innovative. Of course I would put a little bit if possible (has to be listed on a big us exchange).

Yes that is a negative point currently, Hive only tradable on Binance and not on Coinbase or Kraken as far as I know…Will hopefully change soon. 🤞🏻
What kind of fundamental issues do you have with Ada?

It can be a sound idea to invest in Cake within the portion of De-Fi and the stablecoins can be purchased on WAVES ecosystem to make gians in a secure way ^^

These are my personal suggestions for a long term bag. 3-4 years means a lot in crypto :)

I was indeed thinking of it for the DeFi allocation. It is one of the biggest Market Cap in the DeFi world btw.

I haven’t followed WAVES lately so I might need to get up to date.

3-4 years is like 3 industrial revolutions in crypto teens haha 😂

As the client and I want the custody to remain in a CEX in case everything goes to hell, therefore the hacking risk will not be haunting me.

Are you really sure that you want to hold such a big amount in CEXE's? I wouldn't sleep well but each on their own.

In my humble opinion, this isn't the best time to start investing in the market, I would wait for the bear market.

Having said that, And considering that you still want to start such a venture I would allocate the portfolio as follows:

40% BTC
30% ETH
20% Stables
10% Alts/NFT's/ rest.

Probably even more in stables though.

Few more things to consider:

  • Notify the investor that 70-80% of the money is at risk.
  • Sign a disclaimer of liability.
  • Negotiate a monthly payment for your service plus a % of the profits.

If He/She/ They don't agree with all those terms beforehand be ready to say bye-bye.

Trust me, it's not worth it if you're doing it for pennies. Make things clear before starting.

All of this, of course, my 2 hivies.

GL!

The system for instutions is that the money is locked on the CEX and you cannot withdraw it in any case without some kind of ID and different codes and it takes a few days, so the FIAT/Cryptos are locked.

I liked your portfolio, very institutional-like.

  • Yes, investors know the risks but I will remind them for sure.
  • There will be some Holding that the client would pay and would bare the risks
  • It seems performance fees will be negociated but paid after a few years (2-3) at least. We would work with yearly management fees while waiting to generate performance fees.

Thanks for your 2 hivies mate !

Cheers,

You can take a look on CELO and mobius.money
You can stake fiat with good APR (depending on MOBI price)

I will check it out, it seems quite small project though right?

Thanks for the tips.

You can look at the TVL, it may be small at the moment but it's safe to put a small part of your portfolio on it. The good point is you can stake fiat with good APR, so you don't have the risk of impermanent loss. And you can keep MOBI for long term 2-3 years
