Peakd and Leofinance are building easier ways to Buy and Connect to Web3!
Hi HODLers and Hiveans,
Another little tweak added by the most popular UI @peakd ! I say little because it does not seem much but it is another step into the mainstream direction.
You can now buy HIVE directly from the @peakd wallet UI!
You can either choose CC (Credit Card) or Crypto!
Credit Card
This is the ultimate newcomer's way to buy his first $HIVE. Once you click there you will be sent to an URL starting by https://global.transak.com/
You can then decide between 3 options Apple Pay, Google Pay or Credit Card. All of these options seem to have similar fees sitting around 4.2% of the value purchased.
Coming from the CryptoWorld, we know that it is quite expensive but convenience has a price and you do not have to sign-up to a CEX, wire funds and then withdraw HIVE to your Hive account.
Crypto
This is a widget added onto the Peakd Platform. They use SimpleSwap to process it.
Fees is also not the cheapest as it seems we would get only 36,000 $HIVE for 1 $BTC (sitting currently at c.29.5k).
In the end, these services are taking risks and need to make a living, I do not see these being used across the board but in a BullMarket Mood, I could see some boomers or rich people buying HIVE through these tools.
We need more of these little tweaks
On LeoFinance there also was a little tweak a few weeks ago when we added the Facebook sign-in!
This is how Web3 is supposed to work, making it easy to move from one platform to another. This is also how some Metaverse projects are designing themselves...

Indeed, any ways to make it easier to onboard and use our ecosystem is a win!

This is good timing and a welcome development.
4.2% isn't that bad because you don't have to KYC yourself. What is the cost compared to using the exchanges?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Actually you are right it is not that bad for no-KYC. It is at least 2% but some countries charge more (US for example) as they add CC fees.

It’s a really nice nice feature, it just makes everything smoother and easy

That's really handy

Yup, and as another person mentioned, it is 4.2% fees but doing so using Binance/Coinbase would result in a 2-3% fee anyway as well as Full KYC and having to transfer assets.
Not such an soutrageous fee in the end...

Removing barriers to entry..
When hoping the community grows, we have to make things easier, make things friendlier and educate people gently to the community and it's weird little rules

This is the way to build for the long run. Education and constant development.

Without a doubt two of my my favorite frontends on Hive. Taking us to the peak of WEB3 social. 🦸
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Good additions. Cannot see myself using those any time soon but the more the options the better.

Lol web 3 but

Yeah, that's true. But the fact that you bought those assets with your card doesn't finally prove that you're the one who owns the hive account of the account's funds.
We'll probably see some interesting court cases on this over the next couple of years. The legislation will be slower than the jurisdiction and the key cases in particular areas of the world will be important to look at.

It doesn't take a genius to scrape the blockchain text metadata to see if you ever doxed yourself via message or chain to attribute that fund to you, since Hive uses static addresses it's pretty easy to follow the trail either.
That's not how taxes or governments work plausible deniability means fuckall, we've seen cases where people refused to pay their crypto taxes and their homes were seized as the collateral, I am no statist, I don't believe we should have government, but man that's bad advice
There's no need to live in a country that hates your crypto and wants to tax unrealized gains.
But it's also to be noted, that government your talking about is slow and tax offices are usually very local. There have been cases of people losing all access to their crypto wallets, may that be true or not, but I don't think they all got jailed.
LOL, do you hear yourself? So your answer is move? Run from your obligations? You do know that if you're a citizen you're still obligated to pay your taxes. Relying on the incompetence of tax authorities has never been a smart plan, especially now that chain surveillance firms are working with them.
You don't have to go after them, you can just block their exit liquidity once you hit a KYC on-ramp those funds can be seized, and if you're using an on-chain service, if you hit a stablecoin, your funds can be seized since the issuer can blacklist tokens tied to that address
I‘ll be looking for turning all assets legal as soon as the laws are in place. Or, the way Dan did it, move alone to a place to maximize freedom. Is that so foolish?
Yes because A it's not practical to move and B you can't outrun your tax obligations if they were created when you're in a certain jurisdiction thays not how it works mate
Going forward maybe once you moved, renounced your citizenship which isn’t possible for some countries.
I would encourage you to speak to a tax professional, have you? I have and what you're saying is just false
If you’re going to use fiat rails and create taxable events you’re going to have to pay there’s no way around it
For example this method in this post is actually illegal for South Africans to use and carries a jail sentence. I know this because I follow this stuff most people don’t and will have to cough up the fine when they are flagged
In Germany the BaFin is classifying different crypto common assets to clear the tax rules, but most of the crypto is just not classified yet. It'll take time and until then, there's a lot of greys.
What they really don't like is businesses hosting custodial services without KYC. That's a no-no, and of course, IPFS is problematic in Germany.
Even if, they'd need to raid you and steal your wallet to be able to confiscate your crypto assets - enough time to have a boating accident and maybe lose all of it.

I used the transak service on Peakd twice already, it's fast and easy to do. My receipts pointed out that Splinterlands seems to be an intermediary in this case. That makes sense, guess they are behind the technology, and peakd just added an additional button to the wallet site to trigger it.

This is awesome! It indeed seems small. But for gettingn the layman onboard, these things are super important!
Thanks for sharing.

I tried last night. But, the transactions are blocked from the card issuer side. I could't even use cash in my Apple Cash account. At least for US users, it's mostly not going to work.
