Review || Mafia sobre hielo - Mafia on ice [ESP-ENG]

In the ice hockey discipline, an important name appears, James Galante, a person with a lot of money, who leads the garbage industry and buys a field hockey league team. The Danbury Trashers, would be a team that would give much to talk about, for its controversial players and for having a young man as general manager. A.J. Galante, son of the businessman, would take the reins of the club, despite being a teenager. Since he was a child he loved wrestling, he was a big fan, then he participated in a field hockey team and now being the owner of a club, he wanted to combine both worlds and leave a bad boy image.

The "bad boys" of the league, every game of the Trashers was a spectacle, where there was a lot of violence, but at the same time, great entertainment, because they had a competitive team, they won a lot of games and the fans enjoyed it very much. For a new team, they were able to sign players, offer big contracts and all of that was suspicious. The FBI started an investigation against James Galante, they knew he had dealings with mob people and was somehow doing evil deeds with the Trashers team. Things would not end well.

Galante.

Ice hockey, has always been a very tough sport, here players have hard collisions, suffer major injuries and we see altercations of fights. Well, for the Trashers first game, opening day of their league season, one of the players takes off his gloves and starts a battle with a rival player. There is a lot of blood all over the floor, the spectators are screaming loudly, everyone is celebrating and a Trashers player ends up winning the fight. Then the match begins, simply amazing and a bit surprising the way of watching a sport.

From the first moment, they sent a clear message, we want to be the bad guys and we are going to crush everyone. Gary Bettman, commissioner of the league, was concerned about the attitude of this new team, he understood that things could get out of control sooner rather than later and wanted to put the brakes on it. James Galante, along with his son A.J. Galante, were not going to let him have an easy job, they were determined to do whatever it took and become the toughest men in the league. In every match there was a fight, this battle could not be missed, it was already integrated as part of the entertainment.

Some of the Trashers' players had a dark past with arrests and were now playing in the ice hockey league. Of course, they didn't care about anything, they went in to leave their lives in every game and their mission was to bust heads. It's amazing the intensity of the crowd, the bar was totally aggressive, totally in line with what the owners were looking for and they were recognized as session 102. The city of Danbury, never had a professional team, when the Trashers came out, they showed total support and heartbreak for the institution, led by A.J. Galante.

They started winning a lot of games, so much so that they placed first in the tournament, A.J. Galante was doing it, the Trashers were on top, the whole league recognized them as a powerful team and they were growing rapidly in audience. But, Gary Bettman would not be wrong, a serious problem happened, there was a serious injury on a player of the Trashers and then a big fight broke out that went beyond the limits. It was the trigger for the decline, James Galante made a mistake, he was kicked out of the league and his name also appeared in the newspapers.

The FBI had advanced in its investigations, all the fortune that James Galante had, came from connections with the mafia, which was taken to the garbage industry, where he had a strong monopoly behavior and apparently used the club to launder money. The team, it seemed, was in trouble, although this investigation before their boss, validated them as bad guys and gave them more presence within the image they wanted to have. It is interesting how a story is created, within the sport, which captures the viewers and generates so much euphoria.

There have been tough teams in sports, I remember the Detroit Pistons in the NBA, the Dutch national team in soccer, but the Trashers in ice hockey clearly surpassed all limits. The players were not afraid, they loved the violence, plus they had a coach with the same temperament, an ideal environment for a violent club willing to do anything to impose its law. Watching the spectators enjoy such entertainment leaves you thinking a little, reflecting on your conscience, because I don't think it's nice to see men fighting, that's not sport.

Debo aplaudir a A.J. Gran historia deportiva.

The documentary has a duration of 1 hour and 26 minutes, where we have James Galante himself and his son A.J. Galante, commenting on all the events of those times, when the franchise they bought, was able to emerge from nothing and create a high level team. We can also see members of the club, giving with their words everything they lived and how was the experience playing for the Trashers. Although it all ended quickly, it was the best thing for many players, they earned a lot of money and got out of the bad life they were in.

James Galante ended up in prison, they explain in detail why he was arrested, how they managed to discover his mafia affairs, which were linked to the sport and specifically in the Trashers. When you have a lot of power, you can do whatever you want, therefore, the Galantes did what they wanted with the league, although fortunately, they were able to put a stop to it and not let everything escalate much further. The Trashers only lasted 2 years, but they were high voltage, leaving a mark that will never be erased, honestly they were the bad guys of the league.

I must applaud A.J. Galante, at only 17 years old, he made great value signings, he knew what he was doing as general manager, despite being inexperienced and a teenager. Without the additions he made, for sure this club would not go far, because if you lose, no one wants to come to you, no matter how great a show you put on, and the Trashers were winning all the time. I recommend this production, they show us images of those games, they have a good narrative and at the end we see how the Galantes live nowadays. Great sports story.

Today another user posted a review of an episode of this documentary series that dealt with the case of the girlfriend that didn't exist. I have pending to watch the episodes on netflix, the dark side of some sports and their athletes, I am attracted to the subject. I want to watch the episode about the girl who didn't exist first. I'm also interested in knowing some sports that I don't pay much attention to, like ice hockey, which I only see in movies, I've never seen a game of this sport Many years ago in my city there was an ice rink and we had an ice hockey team, made up mostly by sons of wealthy people hahaha.

If I could just see the review of it, very well by the way, I was also intrigued with that chapter, because I have not seen it, but this saga of "uncovered", is very good, has very good episodes about the sport, cases that one does not know and it's amazing to learn what happened.

I haven't seen a game either, but I have made field hockey parley bets haha.... It would be fun to play it, I imagine they had a great time and I have the impression that this sport is mostly a big attraction for people with a lot of money.
