UFC278: Paulo Costa nunca será campeón - Paulo Costa will never be champion [ESP-ENG]
La pelea de los hombres mas guapos, resulto ser entretenida, pero con un nivel muy bajo por parte de ambos, fue increíble lo que se vio en la batalla, dos hombres que estaban totalmente agotados, tan solo en el 1er asalto y que deseaban no estar mas en el octágono. Luke Rockhold esperando el final y Paulo Costa pidiendo la hora. Si me coloco purista, puedo decir que ha sido una pelea fatal, no hubo nada de técnica, jamás hubo un intercambio serio y mas bien parecían dos hombres borrachos luchando en la UFC.

Para el espectáculo estuvo bien, existieron momentos donde Paulo Costa parecía finalizar, luego todo daba vuelta y era Luke Rockhold quien estaba a punto de acabar con la pelea. Aunque ciertamente fue un desempeño fatal, la preparación quedo a un lado, puedo entenderlo por parte de Rockhold, hombre que se retiro al final del combate, pero Paulo Costa a sus 31 años de edad, no puede llegar con un cardio tan fatal y dejar sobrevivir a Rockhold que no deseaba estar ahí. Paulo Costa se lleva la victoria, pero dejando muchas dudas en su performance y confirmándome que no tiene potencial para ser campeón de esta división.

Dos derrotas consecutivas para el brasileño, además muchos problemas en esos recientes combates, por tal razón, la UFC decide colocarle a Luke Rockhold como rival, peleador que tiene 2 años fuera del octágono y que cuenta con 38 años de edad. En el papel lucia como una victoria sencilla para Paulo Costa, simplemente tendría que salir a lucirse, demostrar que tiene todavía mucha hambre y que sigue siendo un grandioso contendiente al titulo. Ganar le recupera un poco la confianza, no es un secreto que Paulo Costa vende, la afición desea verlo, por ello es importante que se mantenga en el top y pueda volver a retomar la carrera prometedora que tenia.
Tristemente Paulo Costa no ha convencido, llego a las tarjetas contra Luke Rockhold, peleador que se coloco las manos en las rodillas, estando solamente en el 1er round, totalmente exhausto y con ganas de ser finalizado. Pues el brasileño no pudo acabar con el combate, eso se debe a que también estaba muy agotado, no podía seguir mas golpeando y en el 1er round le pidió la hora a su esquina. Esto es imperdonable, peleando a solo 3 asaltos, no puedes venir hacer eso, para mi quedo muy mal su nombre luego de esta performance, Paulo Costa no tiene nivel para estar compitiendo en la elite, cualquier otro contrincante lo hubiera derrotado y se salvo que tenia a Luke Rockhold al frente.
Por mas que allá ganado el combate, no ha conseguido ninguna reivindicación, mas bien dejo mucha decepción y nos hace pensar si Paulo Costa tiene lo necesario para ser campeón. Lo comento porque el estuvo invicto, arrollo a muchos rivales, por eso tuvo la oportunidad de pelear por el titulo y en aquella ocasión las personas creían que podía ser campeón. Lamentablemente este Paulo Costa es distinto, no se parece en nada al de aquellos tiempos, hombre agresivo que siempre iba al frente y no se cansaba de dar golpes. El Paulo Costa que se vio frente a Luke Rockhold, ha sido uno que esta por arriba del top 10 y que no tiene nada que buscar contra el top 5 de esta categoría.

Al terminar el combate contra Luke Rockhold, Paulo Costa daba por terminado el contrato que tenia con la compañía, ahora muchos se preguntan si volverá a firmar, pues por rendimiento no debería hacerlo, ha sido espantoso lo que demostró Paulo Costa, pero sigue siendo un hombre aclamado, tiene muchos seguidores en las redes sociales y el espectador lo quiere ver luchando. Al final la UFC también es un negocio, necesitan de hombres que vendan peleas, pues ellos tienen que generar ingresos y gracias a personas como Paulo Costa pueden obtenerlo. Habiendo dicho esto, puedo afirmar que si, Paulo Costa seguramente vuelva a renovar contrato con la UFC.
Esto seria otro aspecto importante para analizar, sabiendo que es tu última pelea del contrato, sal con todo a para ganar por KO, mandar un mensaje a Dana White que sigues siendo elite y que deseas una renovación de mucho dinero. Luke Rockhold era un rival muy flojo, cualquier top 5 le hubiera ganado por KO, no se entiende que haya sobrevivido los 3 asaltos y además terminado el combate arriba del cuerpo de Costa en el suelo. Tras esa performance, no creo que Dana White le vaya ofrecer mucho dinero, pero si buscara de renovarlo, tampoco es tonto y sabe que el brasileño va seguir vendiendo bien sus combates.
Siempre he sido muy fanático de Costa, estaba emocionado al ver que dio el peso, me convenció con el buen corte de peso, para mi estaba totalmente enfocado y había conseguido la mejor condición física de toda su carrera. Después de verlo con tan poco cardio, dejando que Luke Rockhold colocara sus manos en la espalda e igual el hacerlo porque no podía mas, sentí una gran tristeza, este no es el Paulo Costa que yo conocí, aquel que tuvo grandes batallas y logro ganarlas. Espero que la UFC logre renovarlo, quiero darle otra oportunidad, pero no seria extraño que no llegaran a un acuerdo, Paulo Costa puede que pida mucho dinero y estoy convencido que la UFC no le va ofrecer tanto, y mucho menos ahora con esa pobre performance que ha hecho.

Actualmente Paulo Costa esta ubicado número 6 en el ranking, con tan solo 2 victorias frente al top, pudiera estar de vuelta en una lucha titular, pero con el bajo rendimiento que dejo lucir, no me atrevo a decir que puede ganar, pienso que cualquiera del top 5, cuenta con la capacidad para vencer a Paulo Costa y además finalizarlo rápidamente. Perder todo el cardio al comienzo de una batalla, habla de lo poco profesional que ha sido Costa, realmente el mismo se ha encargado de acabar con su carrera, poco a poco se viene cada vez mas abajo y todo ha sido por el mismo.
Paulo Costa tiene una pelea contra Joel Romero, recomiendo verla, porque aquí encuentran el mejor nivel del brasileño, cuando estaba en su total pico de rendimiento, ese Paulo Costa podía ser campeón, solo debía mejorar algunos pequeños aspectos, quizás la técnica y no ser tan arriesgado. Después de esa gran victoria, vino la pelea titular frente al actual campeón, Israel Adesanya quien lo venció por TKO y aquí comenzó el declive de Paulo Costa. Mentalmente lo afecto mucho, perdió el invicto y parece que jamás se ha recuperado de aquel momento de su carrera.
Al terminar el combate contra Luke Rockhold, menciono que le aguanto muy bien las manos, pero eso es una total mentira, Rockhold no tenia fuerzas, mucho menos energía y sobraron los tiempos para que Paulo Costa lo acabara. No pudo hacerlo por falta de preparación, sinceramente ya no confió en este luchador, me parece que no volverá a una pelea titular, pronto se vendrá una nueva derrota y si llega hacer por KO su carrera se viene por completo hacia abajo. También esta peleando muy poco, solo una pelea por año, eso no le conviene en absoluto, debería estar mas activo, pues lo ayuda a recuperar mas su nivel, toca esperar contra quien vuelve a pelear o si de lo contrario quedara fuera de la compañía y sinceramente seria triste que su despido allá sido con tan decepcionante actuación.

Creo que los cortes de peso le han afectado, porque es un luchador muy grande, debería pelear en los semicompletos. Aún así no lo justifico, lo veo más bien como desgaste acumulado, para mí es mejor que se retire, sus tiempos buenos de verdad que ofreció buenos combates pero no más de allí, ahora le parece uno del montón con algo de fuerza.
Por otro lado, me alegra que Rockhold allá terminado la pelea sin ser finalizado.
Los malos cortes de peso fueron por su falta de disciplina, también me gustaría verlo en semipesados, no tiene que bajar tanto, pero con ese nivel, no tiene alternativa alguna y creo que el debería considerar n o pelear más.
Que se vaya hacer modelo, quizás otra compañía más suave, pero en la UFC, lo veo complicado y Rockhold siendo un ex campeón, no está mal que haya salido ileso, sería un poco triste verlo liquidado.
