For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

Midnight Gems Session number EIGHTY......

Unbelievable, and on the other hand, whywhy would it be unbelievable?

There is so much great music out there that gets too little attention. And then there is me trying to create a written radio show, hence enough ammo to do another eighty for sure.

This Midnight Gems series started with me meeting this guy from Columbia and no we did not do drugs together, but he did insert inspiration into my veins.

Kicking off tonight with that guy. The guy I like to think of as my Piano Man (Sorry Billy).

Sulk - TR/ST (Piano Cover) | @hanselmusic

I am not a one-trick pony, so this Hive Hits is gonna be a little different than the previous one.

This one will contain Gems I found on Hive but they do not require to be made by Hivians, although for this next one that is the case.

If you know me a little, you know I like it dark and spooky, well this is dark, spooky, original, and catchy. I love how it builds up to that epic climax.

Descend - original music video @isaria

Still, I like it darker and @killerwot was like okay let me arrange that for you. He made this sick video for a song that starts out sounding a bit like the killer of Kurt Cobain, but then pumps up the Volume.

Warning: This one sticks in your head if you´re not careful

NxB0DIES - Gloomsday

And if you thought that it couldn´t get scarier than that I guess you were wrong. I promise this is as scary as I get tonight, but we will go Trash with this gem.

It has that synth-wave eighties feel with a kiss of Goth and a touch of Schlager. I found it in this article by @uwelang that contains another couple of songs you might enjoy. If you did not run away after the Schlager-Trash by Don Enzo!

Schlager-Trash-Video: Don Enzo - "Nr.1 Hit auf dem Mars"

Now from that crazy mix of musical greatness, it's only a small step to a magic Table and a Modular Synth. It might be me but just watch this guy, and how he creates those loops and beats... Musical Magical Art from TDC Tunes

A Modular Synth and a Magic(?) Table by @tdctunes

Okay, Okay let's take it a little bit more mainstream, I don´t want to scare away anyone with my weirdish taste tonight.

This next song is just a nice and happy alternative track I found in a Three Tune Tuesday post by @cmplxty. I must have been sleeping under a rock when this came out, but hey...better late than never.

Grouplove - Welcome To Your Life

Just because I shill a lot of not-yet-famous artists I don´t shy away from sharing a song or two from the bigger stars in the Midnight Gems Galaxy. This for example was a great find in the article by @erigm .

(FYI all articles are linked in the songs headers just for those who did not click yet)

Taylor Swift - Carolina

From an audience of millions to a song that just got 24 views, that is what I love about these Gem Sessions. This one does not need words so I am shutting up and letting the music speak.

Within my Shell @tygertyger

Where do I go from here?
Somewhere I normally do not go, but there is a first time for everything...and a last time. That last time came for my brother and I tried to capture it in an article. This is how he wanted to say goodbye. I love it although it´s a teary-eye goodbye.

Venice - The family tree

Youtube Playlist

8 of these 9 gems were added to the YouTube playlist.

All Midnight Gems Playlist can be found here

What the fluff are midnight gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.

Hope you enjoyed this slightly confronting wave of amazing music and you still feel like joining me on the next special edition trip as vol.81 of Midnight Gems is coming soon.

Very interesting. I can't say as though I have really heard of any of them. I hadn't even heard that TS song yet and that is pretty odd since I am a huge fan of hers. I gave it a listen, not sure how I feel about it. It has a Lana Del Rey kind of vibe to it for sure.

With Taylor songs and me it´s hit or miss and it really doesn´t matter what style she uses. Although it´s mostly hit if it´s miss it normally doesn´t grow on me. Got your Lana del Rey feeling although I think I like it because it has that scent of Tori Amos as well.

I wasn't a Swift fan at first, but I really started to appreciate her skills as a write with the Red album. That made me go back and listen to her other stuff again and I had a new outlook. She puts on a fantastic show too.

I need more time to fully absorb the gems you shared. I'm stoked that so many showcase the wonderful talents of fellow Hiveans. What a beautiful way to share something that you are obviously passionate about. I love the idea and output of your:

written radio show

My condolences for the loss of your brother. I did visit your earlier post and I'm glad he has the best-looking tree in the plot. 💛

I liked the last couple of songs, the first ones are not my style even though I listen to a fairly wide range of music, but it's a really excellent post @whywhy.
This post was obtained through Dreemport.
