MidNight Gems - Undiscovered, Underrated & Forgotten Songs vol.73 "It seemed the Better Way"

For those of you that are new to my MidNight Gems series. Welcome to this nightly trip on which we will uncover & recover some amazing songs & covers.

You told me you want it darker, well I can get that after the last one...and as I am the DJ I will play what you ask me dear reader.

Tonight we kick it off with one of the sickest songs from the more contemporary repertoire of the Dark Voice himself. Darn, I love this guy I can listen to multiple albums of this Mister without getting bored. But this one is a secret little gem you might have not discovered yet.

1. Leonard Cohen - It Seemed the Better Way

I thought I died and gone to heaven, but someone let me live to share this next one with you, you my audience, you who I don´t know. You who might me listing to this song and reading my article far after I am gone.

Let yourself live, do not bend, do not break, just breathe and live.

2. Jarabe De Palo - Dejame Vivir

Let´s stick to that Spanish team as you and I both know that I picked up this song watching Casa De Papel....or Money Heist for some. This song does not need any words....just ears to listen.

3. NO TIME. BSO de LA CASA DE PAPEL by POL 3.14

This next one is very special, it was written based on the heartbeat of Niels´s unborn Baby. It´s a father talking to his unborn child, if that doesn´t give you chills please check if you still have a pulse.

4. Take your time girl - Niels Geusebroek (lyrics)

I watch very little TV, mainly because I hate the freaking commercials they are pouring over you every 10 minutes. But on rare occasions, there are gems found in these advertisements, like this amazing Lorde Cover.

5. Marion Cotillard - Team

Teams, as in father and son. Chef Special is a party band but every now and then they have a more sincere moment. Like this one, where Joshua remembers his father's arms, the safest place in the world for most little boys. Most, unfortunately not all.

6. Chef'Special - In Your Arms (Official Video)

And in all honesty, I just added this next song because it just would be a chill follow-up to chef´s song. Not that it´s a bad song, it has something but mainly fitted the flow of tonight's trip.

7. Vance Joy- Riptide

Talking about a flow, I wish the Goo Goo boys would have played Iris like this, it would have made my all-time favorite list straight away. But well Jonathan at least made it onto my radar with this amazing cover.

8. IRIS - Goo Goo Dolls (Rock cover by Jonathan Young)

Exit music for my article, the perfect song to end one trip and start another. It does not need anything more than this.

What the fluff are midnight gems?

Somewhere lost in time, trying to escape out of the rabbit hole back into the rat race there is a vacuum..... that´s the place where midnight gems are found.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.

Who the fluff am I?

Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years....Thought about it many nights and guess now it´s time to finally take it to the streets.

Hope you enjoyed this slightly confronting wave of amazing music and you still feel like joining me on the next trip as vol.74 of Midnight Gems is already released.
