My Gems are Your Gems, I love sharing Gems
When I was just a little Hivian someone inspired me to do what I was thinking of for a long time. Create my own little radio show, just like Christian Slater in Pump up The volume. But then without the intel on students and teachers.
What I so give every now and then is a bit of intel on the artist, but the main goal was sharing Gems.
Now if I would have known about this community I might have started here, but as I did not know the first thing about Hive I started out in the music community.
Over time I found my niche, which was involving music in my stories one way or the other, and as I evolved so did my Midnight gems sessions.
I started out trying a little bit of everything, but the idea was to have themed sessions filled with Gems, Covers, And Songs that might have been Forgotten.

In the end, I stepped away from doing those themed shows and focussed more on the core business, sharing gems. Well until last week that was when someone send me on a wild clown chase.

It´s not as simple as it sounds
But that was a one-off because this week I will have another gem-packed show.
Throwing together 9 songs and some keyboard characters is nothing special, but there is a little more to it. Every show I try to create a flow. A story with a beginning, mid, and end just like I used to do when I was a DJ. You take your audience on a trip, it´s an experience that should feel line a musical journey.
Now try and mix that with sharing nine tunes that you don´t hear every day, or in most cases never heard before and never will again. Because I don´t want to sound like your favorite radio station or your list of Spotify suggestions. I am to share those little gems nobody found yet.
I think that every show at least has one song that has less than 1K views/plays and I often played songs that had less than 10 views. I truly don´t care, if I consider a song a gem I will list it.
What´s a gem?
In all fairness everyone has his, her, it´s taste in music so my gems might not be your gems, but I do try to keep my Midnight Gems Sessions as eclectic as possible. But at the same time I will not dive into musical areas I do not know poo about. What I do know is what a gem to me should look like.
- Catch my attention in one play
- Have a soul, speak to me
- Not sounding like one in a dozen
- Make me want to hit repeat
I don´t care if the recording quality or audio mixing is off a bit, as long as it has that personality. But songs speak louder than words so let me give you some clue of what I consider gems:

I could have left it at that, just writing and sharing but it´s not about my blah blah. It´s about that trip, that journey and allowing people to revisit those songs. To accomplish that I started adding them to a playlist so people could just skip my nonsense and go to the important part straight away.
Yes I am giving away free mix tapes that way you can discover some cool tunes every single week there must be about 80 or so already out there on Youtube. That is what it is all about, sharing those gems in an easy-to-access format.

We all know that if you give them one finger people start pulling off your arm, and they did. My YT playlists was not enough for them, there are people out there that think the videos are too distracting and they want the raw stuff, the music only. As a DJ I am used to doing requests and so I started 2023 by creating a Spotify playlist next to the YouTube one.
I try to keep them identical but as I prefer using YT sometimes I need to cheat a little in case a specific song is not available on Spotify but that happens less than I expected.

There is more to me than just music, I am writing an unbelievable true story as well, which currently contains 34 chapters and every week three more chapters are added.
And you might have seen my writing some Crypto-related posts as well. But with my Midnight Gems every Friday night, the Tune Tune Train musical riddle on Tuesday, and me spreading the vibes on Sunday music seems to be my main niche.
And what do you do on the seventh day, I wish I could do what god did and rest. Unfortunately, I am only human and I gave myself another challenge.
