Where do you find good music without it being fed by an Algorithm

Every Day A Different Story (1).gif

Youtube and Spotify are great in feeding you stuff that sounds like the stuff you tend to listen to.
So in the end you are being fed a generic musical sausage based on your old taste.

Radio Shows are no better, they play what satisfies the masses to get the most listeners and therefore the biggest income out of commercials.

Of course, musicians should also make a buck, but so many middlemen cause the music that is pushed out to be like that middleman. Uninterested and only looking for a quick turnaround.

So why am I here?

Because it´s challenge myself Thursday and that means on Thursday I am exploring a new community every week.

And whywhy I am on about this music stuff?

Because I try to beat the Algorithm at its own game

Because that is what I try to put out, Non-Algorithmic Musical Gems!

It all started with me wanting to be Christian Slater in Pump Up The Volume.

I got close, I have been a DJ and now I am sharing my love for music true my posts. I almost always use music in my posts, even the non-musical posts.

But tonight I will focus only on my musical ones.

A year or two ago I got inspired by @hanselmusic to write my first Midnight Gems Session and by now I must have written at least a hundred, and it evolved from nine songs that fit well together into the written radio show it is today.

Feel free to have a taste of last week´s one I am sure it has not gone stale yet.

The format might have changed a bit over time and become more cohesive but it still contains nine (or ten) hand-picked songs that are worth a listen. Some with as many as 2 views some with 20 million.

The idea is that those songs together create a feeling, building you up and breaking you down. A little bit like when people still bought CD´s or LP´s. Those albums had a flow and so does my show. And that flow is captured in a playlist and since this year in two playlists as someone asked me if I could do a Spotify one as well.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2wELlZqzaMTYvOV7ZmWSWx
But the essence of the show has never changed, I am always looking for those gems. Those songs that stand out from the crowd, the gravy on the mash that hits my ears every day.

Of course, I am biased, but just check them out.

You can always skip my blah blah and move to the playlists directly, that way you have some great handpicked tunes to discover every week.

There is more

Some of you might be familiar with Three Tune Tuesday started ages ago by @Ablaze. Now as I never like to do it nice and easy I have turned the #TTT into the Tune Tune Train.

My Tune Tune Train leaves the station every Tuesday and contains 3 songs. Those three songs have a connection and it´s up to you Dear reader to solve the mystery of that connection. Normally proper use of the hint & a bit of googling will solve the riddle.

First one to solve it will get a $1 boost on his/her next post.

The connection can be anything:
They are all about flowers, they have the same drummer, they all sing about Pink Mushrooms, or they are all kids from famous parents. Just to give an idea of what a connection might be.

And during these hard times, who does not want a $1 boost, right?
Wanna try, the riddle isn´t solved yet...Click here
Or have a little sample:

And that´s not all folks, because I just started a 3rd weekly musical post. My Spread The Vibes Sunday post, using the #Spreadthevibes challenge no challenge started by @edje .

This means that on Sunday morning I will sit back and think about what post or comment or anything Hive related triggered me musically this week. It can be as simple as a picture of a flock of seagulls that set me off thinking if those guys were still alive and how they had evolved. But it can just as well be someone implicating that I am a boomer with regards to my musical taste, btw that is something I agree to disagree on.

Anything can trigger me musically and most day-by-day situations remind me of a song that is just how my mind works. But best if you just feel the vibe for yourself, just click that horrible gif!

And if you are curious and want to Spread the vibe yourself please clikerdeeclick me and find out more by the hand of its creator.

Yes there is more to me than just music, I am WhyWhy AKA BitcoinBaby so there will be definitely some crypto stuff in my blog portfolio and I am working on my epic epos but to catch all those just follow me, because today it was all about the music.

Pump up the volume was such an awesome movie. I totally agree with you on that! Christian Slater has always been a favorite of mine! What was his characters name in the show? Hard Harry? I am going to have to go back and watch it now. I kind of like that Spotify introduces me to music that I haven't heard before. I have found so many artists I wouldn't have known about through that. I can see the drawbacks, but I also pay for Spotify, so I feel like I am at least giving back a little bit.

Your picks are always so good!! I’ve discovered new music (as supposed to be) through your playlists and those hidden gems are awesome. I’m also happy to be the first one to be featured in those.
