An idea is a thought or suggestion as to a possible course of action. It is also a mental impression. We all have ideas in our heads from time to time but what do we make of them? Do we even pay attention to it at all? Or we procrastinate on how and when we want to get it executed?

This brings to mind a short story that was shared by a facilitator during a seminar I attended while I was in the University few years ago. He said he was about to embark on a business trip that will last for about 5 days in another state. He was packing his bag when an idea dropped in his head and he felt the urge to stop packing to jot it down so that he'd not forget but he kept on packing his luggage. Before you know it he was in the bathroom taking his shower when he remembered that he needed to write down the idea, yet again he said to himself that he would do it when he's out of the shower.

When he was done in the shower, he quickly got his notepad and wrote it down. The idea was to start a restaurant where African delicacies will be prepared and also combined with a viewing center where sports lovers can conviniently watch games while having some food and drinks. It was a great idea because no such thing existed in his neighborhood and it was a perfect location for the business.

He kept the notepad in his drawer and departed for his 5-day trip. He returned from the trip and he didn't pay attention to the idea he had noted. Months passed by, yet the idea wasn't executed. He further narrated that he was driving by in the neighborhood after about 6 months when he saw his idea staring at him in the face. The same idea crept into someone else's mind and he acted on it without wasting time. He expressed his shock and also disappointment in himself for not acting on his idea.

He ended his speech by saying that if God drops an idea in a person's mind, he gives a specific duration of time to get it executed and failure to execute it within the specified time means you've lost your chances. God will drop the same idea into another person's mind who might make use of it.

The best time to execute an idea is not tomorrow or later, it is now. Ideas have a very short span and it fades away quickly if not acted upon.
