THE TREMENDOUS IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON OUR LIVES

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. The impact of technology on our lives is immense and it has made every area of our lives as easy as ABC. It has made carrying out activities fast and efficient on a daily basis. From the gadgets we use in the office like computers, printers, scanners, to home appliances like blender, microwave, television, air conditioner, to the ones we use for mobility like cars, bicycles, aircraft etc. Life can't be more easier. All thanks to technology. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

So many years ago, our forefathers traveled long distance on donkeys, camels or even on bare foot taking days or weeks before they get to their destination. But, in our world today we can travel several kilometers within a short time using automobiles and all thanks to technology. It has provided so much comfort and ease for us. I can imagine the stress of traveling from Abuja to Lagos on a donkey in those days, a trip that takes about 14 hours by road (automobile) and about an hour by air.

These days, it is much more easy to study and to make research than it was some years back when you have to visit the library, open different bulky books and journals before getting the information needed. With the help of the internet, a product of technology it is easy to get information on any topic in any field within a twinkle of an eye. Most books, journals, publications, and so on now have their electronic versions which makes searching easy with just the right keyword.

I remember my dad told us different stories about how he use to send letters to a distant town and the fact that it took a long time before it is received. Also, it also take a long time before he also gets the response from the person he sent it to. Communication by word of mouth is also a mode of communication in those days. I wonder how it is easy for people to deliver messages to multiple people - like won't the messages be delivered to wrong people or even in worst case scenario forget someone's message since it takes several weeks before they arrive at their destination.

Technology has made communication easier, faster and effective in our present day. Through the innovation of smartphones we can make pass a message across to someone and get a feedback within a twinkle of an eye. It is even more interesting with the introduction of video calls where you don't even have to wait until you travel to another city or country before you see the person you are talking to. With the rate at which there are new innovations every day it may get to a point where you can not only see someone on a video call but also shake hands or even hug 🤔. Nothing is impossible!

Technology provided an alternative for grinding stone by introducing blender, firewood by introducing electric cooker, razor blades by introducing clippers, sewing machine replaced sewing with threads and the list goes on and on. Technology have been making lives easy for us for quite a while now and it will continue to develop as time goes by.
