Hello everyone and welcome to my blog at this hour. There are times when streams of thoughts flood our mind and we ponder about life related issues. The thoughts do not choose a particular place or time, they flow in freely at any time and any place. Sometimes, you do not know when you get lost in the thoughts. Well, sit back, relax and enjoy all that I have packaged for your reading pleasure.

On my way home this evening, sitted at the front seat of a Volkswagen Golf 3, stucked in a traffic with cars honking and trying hard to pave a way for themselves I got lost in my thoughts not minding the loud noise and voices around. My thoughts overshadowed the surrounding sounds and activities.

My thoughts drifted to when I was growing up and how I use to fancy some people and even daydream about how to be like them when I grow up. There was a particular family in my neighborhood when I was growing up that seems like the most influential in town then - I always want to be like them, dress like them and drive fancy car like them.

I admire On Air Personalities (OAP) that I see on TV and listen to on the radio. I fancy the way they speak and always wanted to host shows on Televisions and Radio stations. Not only that, I grew up in a Nigerian family where we love watching football, I admire some of my favorite football players, the way the dress and their skills on the field of play

One funny "wannabe" of mine that cracks me up anytime I remember is the guy I try to imitate his walking steps in Secondary school. There is a "big boy" kind of walking steps that he is fond of - I fancied it so much because girls love it then. Haha.

But, I have realized over the years that no two person can be the same and we have our unique qualities and life goals. There is no need wanting to be like another person - each person is unique in its own way.

I'm not saying don't admire good things from people but do not make is a do or die that you want to be like them when you can be more than them. There is a popular Nigerian slang that "overtaking is allowed". Yes, you can be more successful than that person that you really want to be like when you run your own race and not using someone's yardstick to measure your success.

I have grown not to want to be like anybody. I want to be the best version of myself. I'm pleased with the man that I am, the man I'm growing into and I'm willing to face life challenges as they come and conquer them one after the other. I'm not perfect, I have my flaws and that is what makes me who I am - that is my story and that makes me the author. I do not want to be a character in another man's text or story. I want to write my own stories too.
