A Story with a Passage in Hell, Working Title, Chapter 1

Yesterday I was thinking about a micro story for the contest challenge promoted by @dbuzz and I ended up thinking too much and I would like to write maybe a little story about it, you can find the excerpt that originated this creation here: And then we come to limbo where those who were indecisive during life ... or check on my page at D.Buzz

The story is based on Dante's Inferno, and tells the story of another character in a similar situation in his adventure through the cycles of hell in his view, the context is narrated by the first person in the case of our man Bartholomew who finds himself in an unknown place only knowing he had died at some point.

I don't feel alive or dead, cold or hungry, happiness or sadness, I only exist if that can be to exist, I've been on the brink of madness in this hell since I left the world, contrary to what the books say hell is not hot and animated, it's cold and lonely even with these hundreds of empty heads just breathing and watching me, for days I've been walking in this damn limbo in search of something nameless, I would settle for a simple answer or even a look of contempt or distrust but the eyes of the people who live here seem dead for a long time without seeing a real purpose, our life comes down to having a reason for existence even if it's just to be a complete useless degrading the world with your breath and toxic word and that was me, funny that our memories here are not preserved, I know who I am, what I did and when I did it and nothing else, without names, without faces, here we become in fact just one more in this chaos, I prefer eternal death to that.

Walking vaguely in this new non-existent world I can observe from afar a large shadow that seems to look towards me, in fact it is not far away but it seems that my reach to it is infinite for some reason my body is being pulled against my will there, wait for a moment am i craving? What's happening I feel the cold and hunger, I'm going into agony at the time I didn't feel anything, now I can feel everything at the same time even the simplest things that went unnoticed by man in life... I love to feel this simple sensation of breathing, I'm breathing very fast I think I'm choking on the air, no that's impossible now I remember.
Finally, I'm close to that big shadow, feeling of fear and regret in my whole body, finally what was just a shadow gets a face, he had no mouth, nose or ears but 3 eyes and an animal body covered in old cloths, me I completely regret it, wait a minute why am I feeling these sensations again? What is it? Fear? This is so pleasurable at the same time distressing, and suddenly I can hear a voice in my head, I soon understood that it was this beast that was staring at me.

Roaring voice being firm in his words, what did they mean by that the rotten people of this place are those who in carnal life were weak and mediocre when living in neutrality, could not stand with anything or choose any side, they will simply be forever in neutrality in that limbo since they are not far from God nor far from the Devil, they simply exist if that is to exist, you have been chosen as the new Apostle, what is an Apostle? What was I chosen for? The silence becomes disturbing, the cold is more and more severe, I feel my fingers freeze every minute. After that the third eye of this Beast simply expanded, and it seemed as if it had entered my mind, I am motionless, without reaction for a few seconds, then again I hear that voice in my head this time distorted by the wind, You will replace me eternally watching these damn voids until a new cycle, here I end my sin and clean myself of this rot, No! Wait, why did I say no, is that my voice? This monster is staring at me seriously now, I'm sensing a hostile and threatening presence, I need to act quickly!
You don't have the arbiter of anything here, Bartolomeu! What a disappointment, I'm revoking your right to exist, perishes.
