The Hustle Review

The Hustle is a 2019 irreverent comedy starring Rebel Wilson and Anne Hathaway as two con women who trick men into giving them money. With one more sophisticated than the other, they battle for who's the better con-artist when they meet a tech billionaire.

The Plot

The story had me hooked all through as the scenes were comedic. I liked all of the goofing around and had a good laugh for the most part. I didn't understand some parts like Penny's arrest, was it an actual cell and was Josephine's partner a real officer?

I got bored with the whole blind act and their wager but I liked how the other main character, Thomas was introduced to the story through it. Seeing how they made a great trio, I wish he made an earlier entrance and the actual story was about the three of them as a team.

My favourite scene has to be the Lord of the Rings one and every scene with Rebel being...Rebel. I liked how I didn't see the end coming and finding out who the legendary con-artist, Medusa was.

I wish the story was carved differently though, but this wasn't so bad overall.

The Cast

Give me a Rebel Wilson movie and I'd definitely watch it because I expect clownery at its peak. Now give me Anne Hathaway and I'd expect to see a quirky, funny, put-together lady. I really was curious to see how these two would fit in a comedy.

I have seen Anne Hathaway play funny roles like her role in The Witches and that's the funniest I've seen her. The two of them worked so well together in this as their different type of funny was an easy blend.

The tech billionaire creator played by Alex Sharp looks so much like Mark Zuckerberg, I wonder if his casting was in regard to that. I also like his character and how unsuspecting he was. As for his chemistry with Rebel's character, I didn't see it at all.

My favourite character, however, is Josephine's butler. He was an odd accomplice who looked oblivious to everything but is probably the worst of them all. He needs his own movie.

I'd definitely watch a sequel if it is made but that is unlikely to happen as this is a remake of a remake. It is a remake of the 1988 film Dirty Rotten Scoundrels which in turn is a remake of the 1964 film, Bedtime Story.

The original films had men as their leads and I'm eager to see how different this female version is from them.

I'd rate The Hustle a 7/10 and would recommend for laughs.

I enjoyed the movie, a bit interesting with the twists at the end... very funny too. I too was confused about penny's arrest! Obviously it was not an actual cell. Hehehe good movie.

I love Anne so I usually enjoy every movie she is in.

The movie was enjoyable to me, I hardly enjoy comedies but I did this.

Amazing review!

I think I prefer the remake version of the ladies haha. I enjoyed this movie. It was fun to watch and the characters in the movie all synchronised well with the parts especially Anne Hathaway who is my favorite character in the movie.

Enjoyed reading your post. Nicely done😊
