I got punked and mentally lost $100 in the process
Today was a day like any other. I was having a terrible day at school, trying to find peace in the crappy meal I have to buy every day during our 20 minutes break because the food at home sucks when I realized I couldn't find my phone.
At first, I thought I had been dreaming when I disconnected it from its charger in class and held it while I walked to the restaurant, then later, I was certain it had been stolen. You know that moment when something just feels weird. I mean I remembered walking down the stairs and my hands weren't empty, so walking back up with an empty hand felt wrong.
I asked a classmate to call me but that was useless because I always have my phone on silent. So, I sat through my meal quietly, got back to class and said my phone was gone. I guess I was too calm about it so they didn't know I was sad.
2 minutes into searching for my phone I already made a mental subtraction of where I would be getting $100 in the next 24 hours to buy a new phone and while I felt okay because I knew I would be getting a new phone regardless of the situation, I felt sad because spending $100 was not a part of my plans for the week.
Well, I sat to begin the next 2 hours of my language torture when one of my classmates brought it to me and said she just wanted to shake me a little but I wasn't giving her an exciting reaction. Her lack of observation. I was freaking out inside me!
Apparently, while getting my meal, I had dropped it beside me and one of my classmates who thought it was hers picked it up and took it to class. So, when I asked the other person to call my number, she picked up the call and told her she was with it so they decided to play a little prank on me.
I whispered later on that I had mentally just spent $100 and they asked why I would get exactly the same phone if I actually lost it. Honestly, I don't know. I'm a little bit attached to my phone, but I know I need something better. However, if I got clumsy enough to have my phone stolen, I think I would punish myself by getting exactly the same phone. I'm only allowed to get a new fancy phone when I prove to myself that I'm worthy of it.
Anyways, my phone didn't get stolen. I've never been robbed of my phone and I think now would be a terrible time to start. $100 saved!

😂 Mentally spent indeed, you sure did plan to get a new one immediately you realized your phone was stolen only to find out it was a prank.
So didn't you get angry at them for playing such a prank? Even if not strong anger, just a warning anger 🤣 they made you freak out na although you didn't let them see it.. That's really cool.
Thank goodness you found your phone, $100 would have said goodbye to your wallet. Congrats on finding your phone 😇
I wasn't angry at them. I was relieved coz I would rather use $100 for detty December than a phone. It would have ruined my mood for the next 1 month.
