What's the one thing I always carry with me and why?

My glasses were the first thing to come to mind but I think I would classify my glasses in the same category as clothing. I mean I can't leave the house without it, just like my clothing, it completes my outfit.

So, I guess the answer to this would be money. I can't leave my house without money. This could either be physical fiat, my ATM card or my phone for transfers. The only reason my mobile phone isn't the most important thing I carry with me is because of insecurity. I'd rather not risk it sometimes.

I always carry money with me, because why not? I've never been a fan of dependency when I go out. I don't see the essence of my fate, while I'm outside, being in the hands of someone else. While I might trust that individual completely, I always have a backup.

The funny thing about my backup is that sometimes, that backup is a person. For instance, the only reason I would accept to go out with a person who offers to pay the bills when they know full well that I'm broke is if I already called one of my siblings and they know that I'm heading out and I might text them if I need some quick cash.

I have trust issues. Have you ever been left hanging when you go out with someone because you have no money? I have never been but it's an image that terrifies me so I would hate to ever be in such a situation. It's a terrible insult to the kind of pride I've built around my character.

I have actually been caught without money and it is not the most pleasant thing
I don't like owing people, so when it happens, I'd return the soonest I can with a little extra extra :D

It's not a situation anyone would be comfortable with. Glad you found your way out. Debts are quite stressful as well but when there's a constant source of income to pay up, it can be managed.

I've always considered carrying a small quantity of money as a backup plan should the phone network fails for any reason. Enough to afford a snack with a drink and a cab ride home, or to give to a person in need.
