When in doubt, zoom out

I might be new back into the blogging, posting and Splinterlands thing, but I have taken note of the fact that, because I joined block-chain publishing in January 2018, I actually do have some advantages to those that have just started out their journey.

While I stand to learn a lot from those that have been active than I have, I can also contribute to those who are brand new to Hive because of the scarce attribute that I possess.

Mainly, I have PERSPECTIVE.

So let me share with you what this marvellous viewpoint has revealed to me.

Keeping consistent regardless of the Obstacles

Something that I have seen become a rewarding habit time and time again is consistency. Hive is a well-established system. It has evolved and changed over the years, but it has been around for a while now.

The features in Hive and the other front ends like PeakD and Ecency have become easier to use and the displays are attractive and easy to understand.

However, the main attribute towards success lies with the user: Consistency.

Whether you start an account with 0 HP and work your way up or buy yourself 100,000 HP, your closest ally will be consistent interaction within the blockchain.

Posting, commenting, reblogging, upvoting, joining communities and taking part in events is how you build yourself into a network of people that you get along with.

This is a social platform. So get social!

Whatever you do, keep it up. Even if you are earning 0.001HP for a post, do it. Even if you post a hundred of these posts and the rewards don't accumulate to $100, do it. Even if it seems like a chore to get the posts out, do it.

Because initially, you are not building a Wallet balance, you are building a network. You are integrating into a community.

To all the new users out there, most of you probably use Facebook and other social media and like and share and create posts. Why not do that here? Why not bring more people to a more intimate platform?

This is, of course, a transferable life skill. One that I feel is worthy of a reminder every day. Many people struggle with self-discipline in a world where we are given more and more freedom.

If you want to succeed in anything, form a consistent habit to practice and participate.

Breakfast

a_feast.png

My cover picture is of myself on a Saturday morning having a lovely breakfast with Claire. This was not long ago, while still busy on the project in Cape Town harbour that I am part of.

While working those 12-hour shifts, while working hard to get ready to move into a new home, there is time to stop and smell the daisies.

Whether you are single or in a relationship. Do this. Maintain your mental well-being. Be as consistent in this as you are in work.

To The New Splinterlands Players

my_alpha_summoners.png

Again. Consistency!

It is easy to look at Splinterlands and all the people owning and earning in the game and being overwhelmed at the bar to entry that seems to be stopping you from being on par with other users.

You must however take note of the following: The users that are at the top (of playing, earning or both) right now have one of two things: Money or Consistency.

Even those with lots of money to load into the game are less successful if they are less consistent in their efforts.

For the Bronze 3 players out there: Keep completing your daily quests, keep taking part in every league and get those rewards too. Keep learning from the battles you play.

Take part in Splintertalks, or even better, take part in the greater Hive community that is available.

I got all of my original Alpha and Beta cards with blogging rewards back in the day. I have a 3-year gap in the middle... without remorse, I can assure you that my earnings and wallet would have been so much better if I had been involved the entire time.

This leads me to my final point.

Life Happens

I was not in an ideal situation in life and could only deal with so much at a time. Many people might look back at the missed opportunities, lose heart and give up entirely.

My advice is to cut yourself some slack. Accept responsibility but be graceful with yourself when you make mistakes. You are human.

Perhaps you too have been in a similar situation? Have you failed at something? Dropped the ball? Lost interest or ambition? Acted out emotionally instead of thinking things through?

Probably.

What determines success in all things is getting back up again.

So be kind to yourself and try again.

With that, I wish you a wonderful Sunday and a successful week ahead!

A big thank you to @brittandjosie for this banner. My old one was a little outdated.

Goodmorning, I have had a footer that says consistentcy is the key and it is.
The fact that you treat hive life as a job is very nesseccary to build a funded and strong account. But also be YOU and show the diverse lives we all live. That is for me the way that I incorporated hive into brits life and it’s a done deal. Sure I struggle but that we all do. So for everything brain wave, vent , adventure and thought there is a place for on hive.

Project cake town I thought you and Claire are from the us
Ok confused there

And splinterlands I need to go play bit i need 60 hours in a day for that

I would LOVE Hive and its associated platforms and games to be my job.
The only way to get there would be to get there as we both agree is that consistency!

Of course, my other passion and dream is to do my fiction writing... Which will also need me to invest time and be consistent.

Haha! No problem. We're from South Africa. We have friends from all over!

Actually, I think it might be financially easier to earn a living wage with Hive here than in the US.

We are from Cape Town. The fair mother city!

Yeah, so we've been put on the red list everywhere again, which is a real shame for the tourist industry. Cape Town really loses a lot of income when we get locked down.

Apparently, there is just massive concern that this new strain is heavily mutated and that it MIGHT be resistant to the vaccinations. But this is currently being reviewed.

There is no medical report yet on whether or not it is more severe or contagious.

The main issue is that the spike protein that the virus uses to enter the human cells is different from the ones that all the current vaccines were used to educate the immune system to defend against.

I have heard tell of one study result saying that the vaccines are still somewhat effective.

More analysis is required though, so we shall see.

That’s concerning. However, there were very similar concerns about Delta, when it first emerged. Here’s to hoping...no lockdown and that the vaccine holds up. 🤞 fingers crossed!
