Ad Repetition Pushes Consumers Into Submission

Hey JessAdvertisers

I doubt I could ever post this one on LinkedIn my network on there would kill me since they're all advertisers thinking they're doing gods work and are the smartest people in the room. Trust me you don't want to be in a room with a bunch of marketers for too long they reason they can sell is that they believe in their bullshit so much they will make you believe their bullshit.

Reading marketing blogs and journals and posts all day to stay clued up most of it is derivative of the same thing and there is really only one rule, repeat as many times as you can. The key to successful marketing is through a process of hypnosis, the more you see it the more you will speak about it, the more you will hone in on messaging from the same brand and even speak about it to others.

Through repetition and the network effect of enough uneducated consumers, you can take a business to profitable heights.

Above the line

In the past we didn't have many touchpoints with customers, we could reach them by mail, billboards, radio ads and TV ads and we still do, we categorise this as above the line advertising, which still works because, well boomers have all the money.

Below the line

Below the line refers to all the digital shit we do banner ads, remarketing, social media, SEO, paid search, content marketing, referrals, affiliates and dark social. Below the line has given companies near unrestricted access to customers and we can plant message after message after message in front of people until they break.

Your product or brand doesn't need to be good, just top of mind

In a world of unlimited money-printing, some brands get a lions share of the capital which they can then, in turn, burn on marketing and ramp up the repetition. These are brands like Coke, Apple, Nike you can't even watch a movie without product placement, a sports match without a brand endorsement, youtube an individual creator without him mentioning a sponsor all these verticles add up over time.

Getting the flywheel going

Have you ever noticed the biases you have when you're interested in something like oh I want this brand of car, suddenly you see that brand everywhere? This is what advertisers bank on, we plant the seed and then nurture it with various features, benefits and price plans to make you feel like you getting a deal or that you are making a decision, you are in control you are making the choice, when you're really not, you just don't know how to block the programming.

No one wants to believe they're not in control, no one wants to validate they made a poor purchase so questioning this is hard.

There maybe was a time when marketing was an art, now, its nothing more than find sucker and repeat messaging.
