My affiliate beginnings

news-head.png
I started in Affiliate marketing as a site owner, I opened up a Paid to Click site and started looking at places that I could promote it. This is when I came across Traffic Exchanges and Mailers. I started to madly join these programs. It just so happened to be a heyday in the industry, and I was quickly building a list from a blog site I was also running. I was using the list to promote all the programs I as joining as well as my PTC site, which also had ads for the sites I was joining.

I could post a newsletter and get up to 50 referrals for a program within 24 hours. And this my friends was the days when people didn’t mind upgrading in programs. In fact it was the norm. Commissions started to roll in and I was able to start my own Traffic Exchange and then another within 12 months. These exchanges were used to promote other sites that I had upgraded in and the cycle was a continuum.

I then started to branch out to some very successful programs that saw quite a good income coming in. Click Track Profit was one of them. CTP was an excellent funnel site as well a great training resource and the community was active and vibrant.

Affiliate marketing was quite the income earner and then the dark day of PayPal pulling the plug on just about everyone in the industry. It is taking a while for people to realise the benefit of upgrading in programs and the switch to using crypto currency as a payment means, but the days are starting to swing back to the days of yore and my consistency to stay with the course is starting to pay off once again.

I think that I have learned the most by reading other's experiences... Thanks for sharing this with us, Russell!

Very interesting to read your story in affiliate marketing @russellstockley, and with the relaunch of CTP and the combination with crypto I see a new era for affiliates, a bit different from the old one though, more branding and less clicking, but that is just my opinion, keep up your great work and stay awesome.
