I Never Had an Instagram Account...

...but I'm willing to give @appics app a go.

That's curious right? Well, not so much apparently.

In a poll I held more than a week ago, I've seen more than one answer saying Steem was the first major or the only platform used to express online. So, there are people who kinda started their online social life on Steem, without going through a traditional social media phase or blogging or being active on forums.

Until recently, I didn't really know what to do to use the Appics app (I didn't know it's in the pre-release phase). Looks like you have to ask for early access on their website, and wait for an email from them later on.

Since I don't know anything from inside the app and what I can or can't post with it, I'm waiting to see first. I've seen so far one photo (title only) and few seconds-long video posts from Appics.

The few seconds-long video posts (they may have a name of their own but I don't know it) are a very interesting way to capture a few seconds of action. While it's not the first to introduce this feature in social media, I haven't seen something like that on Steem. And if it's an easy process to upload the video, it can become the preferred interface to post few seconds of video on Steem.

The APX token will help incentivize and viralize content, I'm sure.

Before I wrap up, Jon held a very interesting experiment, considering the results. He posted the same meme on some of his accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Appics. Steem (with Appics) was by far the most engaging of all. Are we witnessing almost blind censorship, or is engagement on the traditional platforms dropping like a rock?

I wanted to install appics as well but for android you have to ask for it, for now, and don't like that. When it will be on play store I will for sure install it.

I think these are the rules of Google Play, for pre-release versions. Only fully released apps can be in the store in the open. Might be wrong.

You're probably right. For IOS I think they have it already on the app store.

I have it on my phone, but never used it so far because I did not understood the Instagram type of media... Now that I see it so popular, I might give it a try. Thanks for the reminder!

Yep, same here with Instagram. But who knows, maybe once in a while it will be useful so I wanted to see for myself the app and how it behaves.
