2019 Growth and planning for 30k SP this year.

avatar

First month down, only 11 left to go. Unfortunately for me it's been one of the busiest months that I can remember with a lot happening in my real life that has kept me busy away from STEEM. That means not posting my @actifit every day or getting a blog written every day either. I've managed to keep up to date with my @splinterlands quests but not playing any tournaments which have been a great earner for me in the past.

Part of this is my increased time spend on Discord and Twitter where I have been both helping out and promoting for the STEEM blockchain which is a fun thing to do but takes up time I could be using to write for myself or be more active in the games. I do however think it's important for people to push STEEM where they can and in the end it will be of more long term benefit than me spending all of my time trying to earn if nobody sees what is being built here.

I had hoped to really push on from the great results last year and get my account nicely filled up before the next bull run but that might not happen if things keep developing as fast as they have been over the past year. New apps and developments keep rolling out on a weekly basis and it's surely only a matter of time before one of them brings in more people to the chain and gain some momentum.

With another price increase in the run up to "The halvening", it wouldn't take long to see a lot of people return to their STEEM accounts and get back into earning mode nearer to 50c or even $1. That would have a lot of people interested in STEEM again.

2019 goals

To quote myself, early 2018.

"I don't do new years resolutions and never have so what I will go with instead is set myself a target. I had already stated a few months a go about reaching 5k SP by this time next year.
10k SP by 2020. Not easy but achievable. It will take a lot of time and effort to get there but it's time I'm willing to put in. Like I've said before, I will be here until we are all millionaires or the whole thing goes up in flames. Either way it's going to be an interesting year.

So how did I stack up?

From my starting position of 6580 SP through a mixture of buying, gaming and blogging I increased my SP by 225% in the past 12 months.

2020 Target

New year, new game and the target is going to be 30k SP. My happy point will be passing 50K but I don't see that happening anytime soon but definitely in the long term vision. For now I will be looking at the yearly target which will need me to be at the top of my game and earning 750 SP per month to get there.

Big numbers but achievable with consistent activity and a variety of games on STEEM to top up my blogging and posting. If it's anything like the past year the first few months will be the biggest struggle but as the account grows that will hopefully pick up speed and help me to hit my target in the end.

A solid start to the month with growth of 815SP but there was some sales of extra reward cards from my @splinterlands account that topped up the total. I wanted to clear some out while STEEM was low in case the prices went too high and I lose sale value.

All in all happy with the result and looking forward to the next months target. It will be a tough one since I have plenty more events IRL but i'll make the effort to keep posting and keep going regardless. It's all about showing up even when your busy.

Keep it small and keep it simple.

Dang! The effects really do compound once you hit a certain SP level doesn't it, you're well on your way to Orca! I'm sure you'll get there even with the prices sort of on the rise. I hope you will hit it, we need more SP holders who don't just sit around but actually do something. I just hit 9k today pretty stoked out it too

Ya, if your active on STEEM and hit a certain point it really keeps growing from there. I never thought I would see these numbers but keep showing up every week doing what I'm doing and it works. The growth is exponential and if you combine some curation with games and a bit of leasing then it keeps coming in every day. Hopefully we see the price keep rising for a few months and it will look even better for us.

9k is a savage number and 10k on the radar next which is a nice round target to hit. Double dolphin. You won't even feel it getting there over the next couple of months with a few of decent posts. Mine are nearly all small payouts but keep hitting them every day and some actifit and it adds up.

Great post! I have only been on Steem for about 3 months. .. only one of which have I been posting and curating. It is an inspiration for me to see someone who has been here for a while and have been setting and making their goals! Thank you for sharing and keep it up!

I know how it feels. I would guess it took me about 6 months to earn just 50sp when I started and it was very stop start as i had no people to guide me. CTP is a great system and @jongolson someone who will get you started and active.

It's all about showing up. Show up as much as possible. Find your topic and post regularly. STEEM is no different to any other product or social media. You need to build your brand and get people interested. That's done with persistent effort. There are great places for newbies like @steemterminal to help get you settled or i use some of the games to earn extra STEEM. If you have any questions i'm around a lot and always happy to help out people.

Try to find good people on here to follow and let them know you exist. Comment on their posts and ask good questions and you'll find a lot of people willing to give you a good start.

I want to ask you - I understand correctly - it’s better to sell some of the Splinterlands cards now
If Steam grows in price, will I get a lot less steem from sales? What would you do in my place now?

That depends on a couple of things. The question is basically do you want to buy STEEM with your cards and if the price of STEEM will keep going up for now. If STEEM price goes down you will get more from sales but still worth the same dollar value.

For me I have a lot of extra rewards cards just sitting there doing nothing. As the STEEM prices have been slowly going up for the past while with the bitcoin halving on the horizon i feel that it will continue to increase for the next while. If STEEM price keeps going up then you will get less STEEM selling those cards in the future but you will still get the same DEC value or dollar value for them. As I think that STEEM will keep rising, if I sell. In the future i will be able to buy more cards for that STEEM I have now.

This is only my opinion and I am not selling any cards that I use as they are what have been earning me more STEEM and DEC every day. I won't tell you what to do but I will be clearing out my SPARES using that STEEM to earn more STEEM and then hopefully buy even more cards in the future when STEEM prices rise again.

Thanks for the detailed answer - I think then it is better for me to sell now cards that I don’t play and put up for rent. Nobody rents these cards, except for a few for which a microscopic fee. It was decided - I will sell these cards.

People only rent the top cards really. The regular reward ones are not worth enough to bother setting up in my opinion. That's why I would rather sell now and lease out the STEEM for a few months and hopefully make a nice return. Just taking an educated guess at it.

Thanks mate. I'm loving this slow steady increase in price every week. Coming up to the halving it's nice to see. All we need is another bitcoin bull to get everybody rushing back and we will have spent the past year getting into a great position while others hid.
