ActiveWorlds 3D Worlds - Something I do for fun and to relax

avatar

ActiveWorlds.com is a 3d virtual reality environment with over 500 worlds to explore (517 when I was on at 9:30 pm pacific time on 01/18/20)

There are more than 10 public building worlds where citizens do not have to ask anyone to build. All you have to do is find a spot where nobody else has built anything and put an object like a large walk028h.rwx or some other large land cover. Then you need to duplicate that and move it beside the first one and so on until you have covered the amount of space you want. I like doing 10 large land objects at a time and moving them forward so it takes less time to get some large area covered. That covering will prevent someone else from building on top of your area (or under it).

Some worlds are different than others and some world owners have not set up the object registry file in their world object path so sometimes people can build over things that others have built. Also, there is a way, in some worlds, to make an object up to 5 times bigger with some simple code in the object description and then some of those might hang over someone elses build area. Most times this is considered rude but there are some times when someone might want to hide something like a sign that someone put rude language on or to hide a ragged edge on a build or something like that.

I think the people that go into the worlds now are a great bunch that love hanging out, building, chatting and using the worlds for fun. Some people still call it a game when they go in but I don't feel that it is a game. There are no real points or money to be earned by being in the activeworlds browser doing things in the worlds so I don't think it qualifies as a game and I can understand why most people won't even check it out after they learn they can't make money just by being in there.

However, some people did make some money selling things they created like 3d models that other world owners can use if they have their own world with their own object path. I had a world more than once and I made objects for myself just to learn it and have something to give away for free. There used to be bingo worlds where some creators would give something they made to have it as a prize given at the bingo games. Now there are whole worlds that have links to downloads and I'm sure there are still some things being sold by some creators. I haven't really checked into that in a long time since I did not plan on paying for my own world again right now.

I've made a blog about ActiveWorlds and posted screenshots at bizelion.net/awi in case anybody wants to read and check the pictures. I have more to post and I know I need to work on that blog some more so if you do check that, maybe check it again in a month or so.

I've checked my crypto and tokens again as usual.

Thanks for reading and have a great day or night or what ever it is where ever you are :-)
