Yeah, it was a great racing game and I don't know how long I was actually in it because I can't remember when I bought the game cd and when I started paying the $10 per month to be in it. Yes I did pay that much to play an online racing game back in 2003, and I was there the day they shut it down. I'm lucky I got a bunch of screenshots of cars I had. Which I was looking at again the other day and using some of the pictures in that ActiveWorlds thing I've mentioned before. The worlds have picture objects that you can put anywhere and put a url into the action part of the picture object properties.
Anyway, back to the Motor City cars. There were apparently 79 car variations or more, I tried to compile a list but some I never saw in the game when I played and some I'm sure I didn't find the Year/Make/Model of. Variations for example on the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro they had the regular, the RS the SS and the Z28, so counting each those are four of the 79 car types. Then there were some regular hard top, chop top and convertible but not each variation had chop top or convertible. Oh and the special '66 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C was only convertible.
There were also a bunch of different special paint jobs for the different cars. Some cost a ton of money (in game money that you win from races) and the normal colors cost a lot less. They had a marketplace system where people could buy cars from a "car dealer" or other players, put any of the cars they owned up for sale, I can't remember for sure but I think some were auctioned but there were some set prices. Basically the players set the prices/values and if you didn't have enough cash from racing you couldn't get the cars that were "rare".
I was able to win, buy and sell enough to end up with 74 cars on the mid-town server, 77 on the uptown server & over 100 on the crossroads server [players were allowed to be on three servers with one account].
I have some pictures posted in some old pages I made at My MCO Pages if anyone wants to check the pictures out. Keep in mind that these are old pages from 2003 or so and I found I moved some pictures and I have to fix the file names because they are not the same but I have most of that done.
