The CTP Update - Decisions Had To Be Made

Add a subheading (20).png

When we started the CTP token project along with CTPtalk.com, the entire idea was to bring people together. The blockchain was to be introduced to affiliate marketing. And affiliate marketing to the blockchain.

And so far...It's been amazing!

People from both sides are getting to know each other and we're seeing engagement and interaction from marketers and blockchain enthusiasts.

This is all good :)

However the market for CTP Token is very low as the realization of our IPN is still a ways away. We are close, but that's empty words without proof. And even worse, without a working product the demand just isn't there yet.

However, what is being built is this:

  • An active and engaging community
  • Crypto curious members diving into the blockchain for the first time
  • Weekly webinars to educate our customers on the power of Steem / CTPtalk

But we needed to do something with our condenser because it's taken a few steps away from what it was originally intended to do.

We wanted people to share their journey with entrepreneurship. To document their path to finding success in an online business and have a community support them along the way.

The blessing and curse from doing this on the Steem blockchain is the amount of tags that can be added to ones post.

Instead of posts about someone getting their first affiliate sale and the steps they took to get it, we see dozens of pictures of flowers, sunsets and ActiFit entries.

So we had to make a decision to protect our investors in CTP Token as well as the future of the platform. So we muted the ActiFit tag from CTP yesterday in an effort to get the focus back on content creation for entrepreneurs.

Please note: I love ActiFit. I delegate to it and buy their tokens every week because I think it's an awesome project. But people were just taking advantage of our very liberal approach to tags in CTP. And when 80% of the content on our condenser ended up being ActiFit entries, we had to do something.

Hopefully this encourages more content to be created with an entrepreneurial spin to it. And lets our token holders know, we're focused on our niche and our little side of the blockchain.

The goal remains the same...To bring blockchain to the marketing community! And vice versa....

We think this is a move in the right direction.

Please feel free to share your thoughts below, all input and feedback in very much welcomed!

This tribe needs to do what is best for itself, and if cutting out Actifit from that accomplishes the goal of focus on the core of affiliate marketing and to promote that, then I am all for this change, so starting on my next Actifit report I will not include the CTP tag on it, and I will also try and talk to some people I know about this change, I will still be as active as always with making posts that are on topic and in curating and commenting in this great tribe, stay awesome.

Yeah and it sucks because I'm a huge believer in ActiFit as well as investing in their platform...But it's just too much for our little tribe to handle the content...Hopefully we get more people creating content friendly for CTP

I, for one, applaud you for this decision on ActiFit. I am sure there is a place for this type of posting, but I agree that CTPtalk is not it. I also understand your decision about CTP token IPN but I am disappointed that it has been delayed. I will be one of the 1st inline to install it on my traffic exchange

Appreciated man, we're close. But we had to make a change...And once you see what we did, we think you'll agree...The wait will be worth it.

This is great news, as one who is always looking for good content to up vote this will make it much easier to find content to up vote. Keep up the great work

You made a wise decision, the tribe will be much better without it and focus more in what's it was created for in the first place!
Don't worry, this Actifit Queen has other kingdoms to conquer :)
Keep up the good work 🍀

LOL Thanks for that. Yeah not something I really wanted to do, as I want to include as many people as possible...But sometimes we have to focus.

I can see how it is hard to seperate as actifit has an affilliate marketing program (and so does dlike, steemmonsters, etc) but when a project is barely growing, actifit can feel like... spam.

I have some CTP tokens, and I have some affiliate marketing that I do, I will take a look at it again (and I FINALLY recognized that I had to stake my 1 miner... lol SMH)

Thanks for the comments...And yeah, ActiFit is a fantastic project and I think it's perfect for what Steem represents...We just need to get more entrepreneurs / business content creation on CTP :)

I appreciate that decisions made by CTP are not chistled in stone and that you can make changes to benefit the entire tribe... thank you for making those changes to benefit us all...

I have to agree 100%. I started branching out on Steem and posting other content and I dropped the CTP tag. On most anyway.

Keep up the great work Jon. We are behind you.

Yeah heck, even I did that the other day...The content wasn't related to 'business' so I didn't tag CTP...That's the opportunity and power of Steem if you ask me, different strokes for different folks.

My original concern about elastic band wearers came to the fore. Now I won't have to look as hard for content worthy of upvoting.

@jongolson. Effective immediately, I will not use the CTP tag on my posts that are not related to CTP or CTPTalk.

Nah doesnt have to be CTP related...Just trying to get the focus on business and entrepreneurship. And if that's a passion of yours, we aren't trying to tell people what to post or not...This is the dilemma we had on how to move forward :(

Most definitely doesn't have to be CTP related tho

Thanks for responding. I'm trying to branch out to discuss my health-related issues that can effect others on steem, no matter what Tribe you're in.

Hey @clicktrackprofit as an active Actifit poster, I will be affected. However when you weigh it out, that was the only option you had. Well done!

I support your decision Jon. ActiFit is it's own tribe with it's own SMT. I've just had a look at their link and they've run out of their gadgets, so we'll see only more ActiFit broadcasts across all Steem tribes.

There's been too much fog in CTPtalk to benefit our current and potential tribe members, so you're right, a decision had to be made.

Very wise decision, you should not feel bad you are focusing that the main topic is affiliate markenting. Actific is a good program but in sports that label will be better ... Good waiting for the IPN launch

I believe you took the right decision. And the problem is using the ctp tag with actifit posts, not actifit itself. But you are right, when I curate on CTPTalk, and I usually go to the new tab, the place seems invaded by actifit posts. I may have a suggestion for @mcfarhat, we'll see if he likes it or not.

It is always hard to make an unfriendly decision. Protecting the platform and the value of the token defiantly needs to stay a priority. I am for the move, as I will not miss the Actifit posts. And if the next thing comes along at 80%, hope you will whack it too.

Actifit has an active community to keep it rolling and focused on fitness and wellbeing... you are wise to keep CTP focused on Entrepreneurs. Never too soon for users to learn to focus their posts on the correct tags. They can still do Actifit.. just not posting to CTP at the same time.

IMHO, it's always courteous to announce the change in advance if it involves 80% of your community, than making the change and announcing it out of the blue.
