9th Workout of 2020 Done! (Target = 30)

(Edited)

One of the goals for 2020 that I wrote down at the beginning of the year was to complete 30 full workouts.

I call them "full workouts" because on several mornings a week I do a mini workout. The mini workout consists of limbering up, squatting for a minute while working a handgrip, and 15 or so pressups (gradually increasing the amount through the year).

Apart from that, I do quite a lot of walking. And anyway, I'm not a fitness freak, so I'm never going to hang out at a gym five days a week or anything like that. For me, 30 full workouts a year is a challenge, but one that I can stick with. If I'd gone for something like 100 workouts, or even 50 workouts, it just wouldn't have happened.

Here we are, 138 days into 2020 (and what a year it's been so far...) and I managed to complete my ninth full workout of the year!

Here I am after completing the last of the weight lifting exerises - nearly done!

Yes, I know, it's not a great record is it. Just one full workout every 15.33333 days. At that rate, I will miss the target.

Mind you, January was a complete flop. I did none at all! My first full workout of the year was on February 4th, 104 days ago. So, since I actually started working out, I've managed to get one done every 11.555 days.

That gives me 228 days to get the next 21 workouts done before the end of the year, at a rate of 1 workout per 10.857 days, so not too bad I suppose. I only need to raise my game a little now to get back on track.

Today's Workout

I did the preliminary five exercises, throwing the squashy ball against the wall between exercises, and then went into Set 2.

This is a heavily modified version of what was once an affiliate program called "The 7 Minute Workout" - the time spent working out was supposed to be just 7 minutes. That program folded several years ago after the co-owners had a spat over money or something, but I took from it the bits that suited me, and added several other bits on to it.

I still refer to it as "7MW" even though it takes me anything from 40 to 90 minutes to complete. One thing that can slow me down is the ball-throwing. I hurl a squashy ball at a narrow section of wall between my cupboard doors and the ceiling. Three times with the right hand. Then three times with the left hand. I can't progress until I have caught the ball three-times in a row. If I drop it I have to start again. I miss-threw the ball or missed the catch a lot today.

My One Word #InspiredFocus Helps Me Move Forward

I use my "One Word" #InspiredFocus to help me press on with my goals both my exercise goals and my online business goals.

#InspiredFocus has three parts: Imagination, attention and action.

At the beginning of the year I imagined how many times I could exercise during the year and set the goal: 30 times.

I pay attention to the goal by setting it out in a notebook and review it every day along with other goals. Even though I may not take action for days and sometimes weeks in a row, it's still there confronting me every morning when I check my goals. And so on a day like today, with a nice bit of free time in the afternoon, I was able to take the third step: ACTION!

It felt good adding that red stroke underneath the month of May. One is better than none, and there are two more weekends left in the month... Can I add two more red strokes to May...?

Applying #InspiredFocus to my Online Busness

The process of #InspiredFocus is what I use to keep my online business moving forwards as well. This year has been incredible so far. I had to rewrite my business goals for the year because in January I joined CTP and a Bitcoin arbitrage company. Then I found out about two other Bitcoin arbitrage companies, joined them, and created my "Beginners Crypto Guide" email series. You may have seen the squeeze page on the Gauntlet:

I review my goals and do business maintenance tasks every morning. I pay attention to my growth plan. And I try to take some kind of action every day.

On busy teaching days it may be little more than popping into CTP Talk to take part in Russell's Wheels at https://ctptalk.com/@russellstockley or sending out an email and clicking for a few ad credits here and there. The point is that I brand myself with the #InspiredFocus name and it gives me something to live up to.

Actually, I wasn't going to post anything today, but Zoltan @ph1102 gave me a prod in the comments to my previous post @ https://ctptalk.com/ctp/@hirohurl/creating-content-the-easy-way-by-naming-3-things :
