Thank you, @maddogmike. I agree with you that people get carried away and don't set goals that are achievable.

I think we get so bombarded with the idea of "focusing on the end-result" (or seeing the bigger picture) and get hooked on that idea, that we miss the small little stepping stones that are right in front of us.

There is obviously nothing wrong with knowing what the end result should be. That is necessary. But by keeping our focus mainly on that and ignoring the present, the end result often remains 5 years away or somewhere in the distant future and we lose our motivation.
