I’ve been writing about several aspects of dcity so far, but I would like to add to that a weekly update about changes that I have made. Tutorials are great for understanding a certain aspect of the game, but along side these it is great to also be able to get insights on day-to-day strategic choices from players that are a bit further ahead in the game. That is what I will try to provide you with in these weekly updates.

Currently I have two dcities. One on my main account @elbrava, which you can find here. My aim for this city is to simply grow as fast as possible and enter the top200 of dcities. This will likely require me to invest more money to make that happen.

My other dcity is for my @invest4free account, which you can find here. This second account I set up specifically to show that through being active on Hive, you can become an investor for free. You will actually be able to build an investment portfolio that will generate passive income for you through being active on hive.

This weeks developments are:

The second Job Center makes a big difference. The first one has not trained any homeless or immigrants before, over several month’s, but now that I have two Job Centers, already 4 workers have been trained.

So, I have decided to keep 3 Homeless and 3 Immigrants for training purpose. You need both, otherwise you might get Immgrant training that does not work because you only have Homeless. So it is good to have a few of both.

I did a calculation of the expected income from 1st generation cards and 2nd generation cards and found that 1st generation cards not just give more population, but also higher SIM income. So I switched from buying 2nd generation cards only, to buying 1st generation cards again. Rumours are that 3rd generation cards are coming at which point the 1st generation cards will no longer be available. I’m really curious what the new generation cards will add to the complexity of the game.

So far I have been quite unlucky with my 1st generation cards, since I got two Basic Homes. I was hoping for a Factory, Shopping Mall or Bank. Let’s hope the next card will be better.

The immediate result though is that I have maintained my position in the rankings with ease. The two Basic Homes created 12 Population for me because the Popularity rating now really starts to add up. Very nice to see that.

I sold my 3 Wind Turbines and replaced them with a Restaurant, which means my SIM income did go up by 1 and my Popularity is now 14 points higher. Pretty nice.

I will probably buy another Luxury home soon, so that I can sell all my Homeless and Immigrants. Since I don’t have a Job Center yet there is no reason to keep them. I want that Popularity rating to go up, because that is the real free Population rating.

My income from Stadium, Farm, Restaurant and Luxury homes is a lot better than it was before with all the Public Restrooms and Wind Turbines.

For this dcity I will keep focussing on SIM income first and Popularity second, but just as a basis for more SIM income. This is much different than my main account where I do care a lot about the population growth, since that keeps me in the Top300 of the rankings and gives me free Hive every day.

If you have any questions about your dcity about how to improve it, how to grow it more quickly or any other question. Please do ask in the comments. I try to always give a response.

Thanks for reading, do follow me for more dcity and investment content and see you next time!
