Should we not have a system of writing in which we don't have to cram the spelling of every word?
Should we not have a system of writing in which we don't have to cram the spelling of every word?
Greetings steemians!
This world has so many languages and so many scripts for them that it is not possible for any human to learn even 10% of them. Every language have its distinct script and structure of words which makes it very difficult to master multiple languages as they have different structures. For example, all European languages viz. English, French etc. uses Latin script for writing but the structure of words is very different in each language. Even one cannot be sure about the correct pronunciation of a word until one hears the exact pronunciation of that word. For example, 'Psychology' is read as 'sai kaw lo jee', 'G' is used as 'g' in 'goat' or 'j' in 'general'. So, nothing is well defined. It implies that it is not possible to write spelling of a word if one has not learnt it. It creates lots of confusion and creates a chaotic situation where information barrier establishes between two humans.
So, should we not have a system of spelling in which 'what is read, should also be pronounced as it it?
Should we not have a system of writing in which we don't have to cram the spelling of every word?
PS: in Hindi, what we say is written as it is and what we read is also pronounced as it was written. In short one don't have to cram spellings in Hindi.
- Yes.
- No.

But...If I was reading in Hindi,I will still sound wrong... witch will be the same if you was reading my Romanian...and we have the same rule
In Hindi, we don't remember spellings. We read and write the thing in the same way as we pronounced them.

My language is Hungarian. We are using two writing systems.
The Old-Hungarian script, and the well known Latin. Nowadays we mostly use the Latin alphabet. Some of the words are written as it is pronounced, some of them are not.
