Hi everybody! Today is about Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the ''Airplane!'' movie. It is both a funny and historical story that I am delighted to share with you actually. So, here we go!

The famous basketball player, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, starred in Airplane! comedy movie back in 1980, as Roger Murdock, an airline co-pilot who is questioned by a teenage passenger who recognizes the basketball legend. After disputing that he is the basketball star, Murdock erupts when the boy concluded that his dad says about the basketball player that he doesn't really play until the playoffs, which remained a classic thing.

For this role, it was originally cast Pete Rose, the baseball player, another remarkable sports figure. Rose was that time busy with finishing a season in Philadelphia whereas Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was available at the moment.

The main plot of the movie is providing a safe landing for the airplane after the pilots get ill by a guy who is scared of flying. The apparition of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the ''Airplane!'' was a historical one in the sports area.

Another funny fact is that Kareem's agent negotiated the pay of the role for $ 5,000 more because Kareem wanted to buy himself an oriental collection rug from all the money he would receive for his small role in this film. At first, the negotiators that offered the role to the basketball player thought this is a fun inspiring way of negotiating things without much considering it was a true fact instead. They later found out in the media that Kareem actually bought that rug.

Hope you did enjoy this post. I really laugh about it, especially considering that rug story.

Best! Maylena

I've never actually seen this movie despite the iconic thumbnails that have come from it! Think it's worth a watch tonight?
