FFF ~ Zippity-Do-Da ~ Zips a Hometown Classic ~ FFF
What better way to eat away some sad news than with a burger from Zips. Some turn to alcohol, I turn to food... and a lot of it. A food coma is a little more manageable than... well... I’m not going to go into details. I will, On the other hand go into some details about this Hometown Burger joint called Zips, how does that sound? Before I go face first into this burger post, I’m gonna throw a little odd detail us locals know about Zips. There is one on the East end of Town (The Cable Bridge Zips) and there is one on the West Side of Town. In this case the West Side... is not the best side. For some reason the Original Cable Bridge Zips is so much better than the other. I have no idea why, it is just a weird Burger-nomenon.
First, I would like to apologize for my late entry into the Food Fight Friday Arena. Like the saying goes, “You gotta save the best for last” :wink:wink. How many weeks have we been flingin’ Food around the Blockchain??? Lets see.. 63.. 61... 65!!! 65 weeks, dang that is a long time to be running contest with 0 support from any outside accounts. We Food Flingers just keep donating to the Food Fight Friday Prize Gumbo to keep these weekly giveaways going. I just want to take a moment and thank all those that have delegated and sent over Steem/SBD to help with the giveaways. You are what keep this thing goin’. Big shout out to all of you. So what has 3 Hamburger Patties, cheese, bacon, ham, lettuce, tomato, requires 2 hands fully engaged and can’t be set down once you pick it up??? Well if you guess the Big Zipper Deluxe from Zips then you are correct! I highly doubt anyone could have guessed that, considering most of their Man-Sized burgers are this way.
Zips was a family favorite growing up. They burgers were one of the best in town. Handmade patties, tub of fries, and shakes that will put you over the edge as you gently slip into a food coma. McDonald’s was rarely visited, and when we did go there it was for the toys. Lol. Boy have the times changed. Here we are approximately 30 years later and my disappointment level has reached a new high. Is it just me or has every single burger joint taken their patties and rolled them under a steamroller before cooking them?? Okay, Okay... I tend to get a little wild on the thickness of my burgers so I can’t really go and compare. So I will cut them a little slack this time. Yet, with its oversized bun this Big Zipper Deluxe needs a crash course in how to properly handle this thing. Unless of course you are a professional burger devourer as I am...
I’m telling you after getting some sad news about my Dad’s Health the night before, this messy, tasty burger was just what I needed. It took full concentration to be able to handle this big fella. This burger is one that you don’t put down until it is....
Chicken Soup for the Soul... How about a Man-Burger for the Heart
Currently living an hour away from my home town where Zips is located, we rarely get the opportunity to visit a childhood favorite. I remember I used to always get their fish sandwich. It had 2-Fish patties on this same oversized bun and their tarter sauce... OMG!!! I totally forgot about their tarter sauce in I dipped their cooked to perfection fries in it!!
The kids had other ideas for dippin’. How about in a Root Beer Shake or a Butterscotch Shake... hey whatever as long as your eatin’ it, I don’t really care how you do it
I don’t know if we were starving or what but the Splatts clan straight up cleaned house. Burgers, Fries, and Shakes.... Gone!! No fry left behind is how we roll. Still after over 50 years of serving the Tri-Cities, Zips still knows how to fill the bellies of entire families and place them all in a subtle food coma.

Yep Ritzville has one. We have them all over the area. I have one 7 miles north and 8 miles south of me. There was just a news article about Zip's tartar and fry sauce being nationally renowned.

Its about time I made a good round of Splatts burgers around here. 1 inch thick patties and you have to give them an elbow smash to be able to get your mouth around it.... oh ya!!!

Thanks for the post about Zips. Never heard of that burger joint. We have some pretty good ones in my area. And what is the youngster dipping french fries in? Is that a shake with a straw? or a large dipping sauce. I love fries, but wow. New to me, lol.
yes, they are dipping their fries in their milkshakes. one has a butterscotch shake and the other a root beer shake. Zips is just a local food chain without very many stores. They sure are tasty though!! Thanks for stopping by
Great post @jlslpatts, that burger was huge, that's at least two meals for me. As for dipping in the shakes, hooey, it's ketchup all the way for my fries. Those would be gone before I left the joint for sure.
Splatts' Fry Sauce SHHH its a secret... ketchup, ranch, bbq sauce, and mayo. should turn out like a dark pink color... its delicious try it :wink :wink
mixing it now, dipping raw veggies and chicken, I'll let you. But I am pretty sure it's going to be perfect!
