The Man Upstairs (Weekend Freewrite -- 11/16/2019)

Prompt First Sentence: Spending ten days stuck in my own mind felt like being locked up in a cramped cell with a crazy person and not having any way out.

Although in this case, it wasn't voluntary. Being stuck in my own mind, I mean.
You know that moment when you pinch yourself, but you don't feel any pain?
That's how I can tell.

If you think I'm crazy, than you're just like everyone else; they fear to understand the very thing their minds cannot grasp: Reality.

The life we're living isn't real! This is all some sick virtual reality game for the people who control it!

At one point, I've already accepted the fact that I'll be the only one getting out. Until I met her. Yllyana, she believed me! And this gave me all the more reason to break the system, to get out.

We'd find a way to break free.

Prompt 2
They found their way through the decrepit streets to an open square where they perceived a large archway with closed doors

It looked out of place in the open space, and he had to wonder why a lot of people just passed by this place and never took notice of it.

He held Yllyana's hand close as they cautiously approached the closed doors, as he felt an unwelcome chill seep out of the crevice, he suddenly had doubts if he wanted to go through with this at all.

Sensing his reluctance, Yllyana took it upon herself to let his hand go as she stepped forward to grasp the pair of door handles.

Before he could even utter his words to stop, a bright light filled the open square that made him clench his eyes shut.

The next thing he knew, he felt like he was falling.

Prompt 3
a cigarette butt in front of the pot

It was the only thing his mind seemed to have kept its focus on the moment he started gaining conciousness.

But before he could start taking in more of his surroundings, a deep voice broke the silence. The voice came from no one in particular, it was just every where and nowhere at once.

"Grant" it had said, "It is not yet time." was the last thing he had heard before he started slipping out of conciousness. There was one question on his mind though.

Would he go back to living a dream or keep dreaming to live?
