Passive & Active Income On HIVE - An Overview Of My Strategies

avatar

Passive Active Income On HIVE.png

Last week I made a post about how I have these dreams of earning around 100 HIVE per day from my efforts here on the blockchain!

I highlighted a few of the tools at our disposal that can help us earn a passive income on HIVE. The best part is that anyone can use these tools and strategies...

Today I wanted to go over them in more detail especially with all the new members that have joined the blockchain over the past week. I hope it's useful :)

First up, I'll highlight the 'Active' efforts we can do...

Active Efforts For Income On HIVE

Content Creation

I'll never understand why people hate branding HIVE as a social media blockchain. I think that's our greatest strength. Here's why, this can be the first 'toe dip' a new person to crypto can have. And they are comfortable in social media platforms. They understand it, they have experience with them and they can figure out pretty quickly, the upvoting, commenting and......Creating content!

Depending on how many upvotes you get and what they are worth, you can earn a decent amount of HIVE everyday by creating fun and engaging content. And it gets even better...Thanks to applications like @PeakD you can also add potential 'tips' to your posts as well.

How much you'll earn and if it's steady or not depends on many factors including your effort! But it's still the best way to earn more HIVE!

Curation

Sure, you can set up curation trails and use tools like Hive.Vote to automate this, but I've only started to use these kind of services. For me, curation was always a hands on activity here. I have certain Hive members I really enjoy curating and always appreciate the hard work they put into their content.

The curation 'levels' depends on something super scientific called the rewards curve. Depending on when you 'upvote' something and how much the post ends up earning will determine your curation rewards. It's all pretty complicated so for me I keep these tips handy when it comes to curation...

  • Upvote the content you enjoy the most!
  • Upvote it around 4-5 minutes for maximum 'potential' rewards.
  • Don't worry too much about mastering curation for profit until you poke around more. For me, it's all about the content and if I enjoy it!

Passive Income On HIVE

stake.png

And now comes the fun part....Sure, content creation and curation can earn you the most. But it does take more effort then the few strategies I'll outline below...

This is what sets HIVE apart from all other blockchains!

Staking (Powering Up)

This is the most beautiful part of HIVE! We are actually paid, to hold and stake our HIVE tokens. In 2019, 1 HIVE powered up gave you a 8.59% return. However the way the blockchain is set up, this goes down 0.01% every 250,000 blocks. Still, we're able to invest our HIVE and earn literally by sitting on it...How cool is that?

And remember, the more Hive you have powered up, the more you can earn on curation as well as being able to give out more rewards to the community in the form of an upvote. Powering up is a no brainer and it's why I'm doing everything I can to stake as much HIVE as I can long term....

But it gets even better!

Delegation

Some people love delegation, others aren't a fan of it. But it's a tool of the blockchain that can put passive income into your pocket. Basically you take the staked HIVE you have in your account and 'lend' it to a HIVE member or project on the blockchain. They can then give you a return from the delegation you provided them.

Businesses and different tools have been using this for about 2 years now and it allows for so much! I can't speak for every delegation project out there, but I am supporting 3 of them right now...

@Curangel

Which pays me about 0.129 HIVE per day. Without me doing a thing! I have delegated 500 HIVE Power to this project.

@Qurator

The first project I ever delegated to way back when I joined in 2017. I have delegated them 500 HP and I earn about 0.147 HIVE a day from them.

@ThisIsAwesome

A community based project that supports my tribe @ClickTrackProfit . The owner @flaxz is an awesome guy and really does a great job of highlighting members of the community. This fluctuates but I get roughly 0.500 HIVE daily and he pays every week. I did delegate 2000 HP to this project as well.

DLease

Similar to delegation but more secure in my opinion if you are looking for a return. This little project is a GEM and you are looking at returns in the 11-15% APR range.

You set up mini-contracts with people looking to lease Hive Power from you. You can pick and choose which HIVE member or project to support from their market and then lease them the Hive Power. That's it! Everything else is done by @Dlease and their system.

You can choose the term, what kind of APR you want and who to lease to...I have chosen a few HIVE members that I have talked to or worked with, and supported them with a decent amount of Hive Power (Over 10,000 leased for up to 5 months). And for that, I'm getting an average return of 13.84%

DLease_Hive.png

I have just begun my 'passive income strategy' with @Dlease over the past 2 weeks but so far, I"m in love with it! 4.168 HIVE a day...Automatically!

So in conclusion....

HIVE is..Pretty much the best thing since sliced bread! And while not financial advice, this is just how I'm using the blockchain to maximize my returns. A few notes:

  • You should never spend a dime you cannot afford to lose. This goes without saying!
  • When you delegate, or use Dlease remember...Your funds are 100% safe because you are never giving away your HP. You control it all the time. And if anything goes sideways, can always remove the delegation and presto, it's back in your account within a few days.
  • You can learn by simply asking questions & observing how others use the blockchain. The best part about HIVE is that you ar rewarded for showing up and adding value to the blockchain!
  • For extra protection, I use the HIVE Keychain for all transactions on the blockchain.

The best part is this...

When you combine your 'active' efforts with the passive tools on the blockchain, you can see how this can start to add up.

I hope this post helps you become more familiar with the simple and easy to use tools available for you, right now on the HIVE blockchain...

Great read
For me being able to engage with other members is my first and foremost driving goal. and I communicate with those that write great content and those that write great content are the ones that seem to do it consistently.
I have joined one curation trail and have not delved into the auto vote scenario as I like to be hands on.
I also have a couple of posts everyday that encourages others to engage and that for me is a great tool.
I have also made it a point to engage with a total stranger every single day and that broadens my network.

I have only just started looking at some of the recents as a way of maximising my earning capacity but still only on posts that give good reading value.
Dlease is a great tool when you can afford it, daily returns , as is manually delegating , when you can afford to :)
CTP Miners are another great passive tool for earning .

If one looks enough theer are numerous other eraning opportunities that have been put up by other HIVE members that are well worth investigation as the majority of them encourage engagement. and that is the main focus on the Blockchain is to engage and keep engaging as you watch your accumulation get bigger and bigger

Thanks for the comments man.

Yeah I think I just scratched the surface to be honest....There are so many cool projects and new ones coming up all the time.

I was thinking of including the tribes into the article, but figured it would be best to focus 100% on HIVE...Just so that it doesn't confuse any new members of HIVE that might read it...

Tribe passive income post planned for next week LOLOL

There are so many options. Just gotta make sure you never take on too much. Right now, I'm in a good place on my HIVE journey since the Steem split, so it allows me to take that Steem and flip it into HIVE based projects....Long term strategies always :)

Awesome post, Jon... There are a lot of members that don't know about all the possibilities here on the chain... And what is even better, you have named just a couple of them...

You can even earn money by playing games here!!

The possibilities (and opportunities) are endless... The only thing that we can do is to get involved and take action! Easy as pie!

Great post Jon the dlease part is working great for as well as curation. Posting is kinda slow for me with no sports being played, and gardening posts will start tonight or Saturday. Have a great weekend

Excellent write up and a great plan.

One thing that I will add is that, because of Hive-Engine, we can often earn some other tokens on top of our posts. This leads us to the point where we either hold those tokens, stake, and repeat what you mentioned in the post or convert them to HIVE. Either way, can add to the holdings and return.

Absolutely. Yeah I was debating whether or not to add the tribes to this post. But have something planned for next week about it :)

Lots of Leo love coming for sure! lol

Thanks for stopping by man, appreciate your comments!

Always a pleasure to read your posts sir!
Been tipping my toes in some new waters as well with curation trail and delegation! My first delegation went for @thisisawesome and probably will increase it!
So so many things you can do here!
And with all this thrive many more will come for sure!
The Swarm will be buzzing :)

Manifesto! Good write up man. You are and have been the very picture of process and consistency. More people need to tap into the marketing genius you have locked up in your head. The Hive could greatly benefit from your ideas.

Great post! Now that I have a little more HP, started to contribute a little better for the curation projects out there. Even if it weren't for the passive income, they do deserve the delegations for all the community work!

I agree...I think that's what so amazing too about the community. We all wanna see HIVE thrive...So supporting projects is natural.

great information here.
Did not know delegating has nice returns.
Gonna connect with @thisisawesome as that is good stuff there.
Dlease,,,,,who know? thanks for info.

More layers of opportunity continue to get uncovered.

I guess I will start delegating a little bit Hive Power as well. I definitely want to support @flaxz, so I know where to start 😊.

Thanks for the comments man, glad you enjoyed it. Yup, @flaxz is a solid dude....Great to see him starting to really attract positive attention on HIVE.

Yup, definitely. So, I used the hivesigner url method for the delegation. I can see in my wallet overview that the it worked, but I don't see the transaction in my History. Is that normal? (Do see it in Hiveblocks as well, so I'm less worried now)

Also, are there better methods to delegate? Need to do a 3 week delegation in a couple of days and I have no idea how do that 😂

I have used Peakd now for almost everything on the blockchain other than when I'm working with CTPtalk.com Generally, everything can be done on Peakd.

Yes, delegating and leasing are great way of passive income and look like I am also getting same type of return for manual curation.

Can you think of adding blockchain games like splinterland that actually pay to play.

Yeah to be brutally honest i've never really gotten into Splinterlands but I have poked around in a lot of other games on the blockchain. Plan on doing a follow up post about different games and apps you can earn from as well :)

Being a newbie, most of this is foreign to me. Learning is most of the battle.
Following the steps you have outlined are simple and easy to understand.
CTP sets the standard for learning and earning. Yes, it takes time but well worth the investment.

I've been using them every once in a while, but usually that's because I'm not always as active as I need to be to curate good content manually.

Awesome post and extremely helpful post. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I'm going to save this and refer back to it frequently.

One question if I may...

Under "Curation" you mention "Upvote it around 4-5 minutes for maximum 'potential' rewards." Could you expand a little more on this, please?

Is that 4 - 5 minutes after the post has been published, or where exactly does the 4 - 5 minutes come into effect?

Thanks Jon.

0

avatar

Yup, so there is this super scientific thing called the 'rewards curve' which requires a PHd in mathematics to figure out LOL

But in a nutshell, if you 'upvote' a post around the 4 to 5 minute mark, this is where the maximum amount of rewards will be generated in 7 days...

There are tons of other factors that determine when is the best time for the rewards which again, are way too confusing for my simple mind to understand lol But that's my rule of thumb...If I'm online and see a post, I try to upvote it around the 4-5 minute mark.

Hope this helps.

Hi Jon. I'm currently trying to learn as much as possible about Hive in order to become more productive.

In the process I discovered this info which confirmed exactly what you explained to me in answer to my question.

I just thought I'll share it here and maybe someone else might also benefit from it...

I found it here.

Thanks again for your help and I hope this might help someone else too.
