OCD Sportstalk Incubation Curation Update

It is that time of the week again when we look at the figures to see the health of the Sportstalk tribe.The @ocd curation incubation project is all about growing the user base through supporting quality posts. When @ocd first came on board the sports tribe was heading in reverse which was a saving grace as look at the figures today. I would stab at a guess and say we are 120% up from when OCD came onboard and will dig into the figures for next weeks update.

Wow is all I can say as we are up increasing the user base by 105 from 2850 to 2955. This has to be up there with one of our strongest growth weeks and more like it. Sports has the potential to be a top 3 tribe and who knows what is possible when Hive becomes more popular.

Over the last few weeks I explained we were losing ground to other tribes and we won't know if the growth this week is across the board or sports is pulling away again. It is great to se other tribes growing as well so it is bitter sweet. Maybe that is my competitive instincts coming out as I hate to lose.

14 posts were curated by @ocd this week so the number of quality posts are rising slowly. Originality is the key along with rewarding users who are busy within the community. A number of posts would have made the extras except the users have been lacking, non existent within the community thus resulting in rewards being lost. We have to play fair and the rules have not changed as Hive is all about engagement.

In sports we have too many posts that what I would call spam which is posts offering no value. Reworked or spun news stories we have all read elsewhere will just be overlooked as this is not what Hive is about. If you add your own personality into a story that is totally different as thought and effort has been shown.

Quality posts will always get interactions/comments which is reward in itself for the author. As a tribe we have definitely some of the top talent on Hive when it comes to authors. What is great to see is some of the whales acknowledging this and post rewards have slowly been increasing which is a huge positive. This is why being consistent does pay off as quality will be spotted and rewarded at some point.

Lately we have had a good response to the set topic posts and think we should continue by adding a new topic. I thought a new one being #sportstrends which may take some extra thought or not. An example may be top football clubs struggling with new smaller clubs challenging their status or certain youtubers wrecking a sport like boxing. Trends are always happening as nothing ever remains constant, some being good and some bad.
