At the end of the day we are all humans; Ronaldo reaction a bit over the roof but lets talk about the match

Yesterday, Ronaldo was trending due to him reacting angrily to a referee decision regarding not being awarded a clear goal which he has scored in the nick of time. The goal would have helped Portugal push for the Euros qualifiers and that's why it hurts.

Although, Ronaldo might have overreacted, but lots of players might have done more than he did in that same scenario. The heartbreak and disappointment he must have felt must have been so huge and that resulted in him walking off the pitch as he couldn't carry on playing.

The goal went over the line but the assistant referee couldn't cite it. The lack of technology in the qualifier for a tournament of this magnitude is wrong and the reason for it is quite lame also.

A goal such as that would have been easily awarded in any club football regardless of the league and that's because of the use of goal-line technology. So saying because most countries don't have the technology in place, then it should be left unused in the other matches to level the playing field.

The only thing I could think of was Lampard shot going across the line against Germany over 10 years ago and it is saddening that such occurrence is happening 10 years later. Of course, all Portuguese deserves to feel cheated and hurt considering the fact that they were the better team in the game.

Santos, the Portugal head coach demanded the use of Technology ad he knew human errors were bound to happen with humans fully in charge. In fact, despite his advanced age, he acknowledged that the game will be smoother for the ref and the party concerned if the use of technology is been considered.

The officiating referee in charge of the match apologised for his error but that could do little in shaping a match that has already been decided. The apology mattered less and Ronaldo goal won't be counted still despite it going across the line.

The match further highlights why technology was invented in the first place in football. Hopefully, the world football governing body will put this into consideration for the next round of the qualifiers.

Ronaldo captain hand band drop shouldn't be the topic rather, the need for the use of this technology to avoid these things should headline. Why not use what technology for what it was being invented for in the first place? That's a question for another day. For now, I say bye.
