Zhang Hong made it to the top of the mountain after three days of climbing with the guide and the Sherpas.

Shortly after, I saw him share his achievements through his Twitter account.

"I reached Everest!" he said in a tweet. "I want to thank my family, my guides, the people at Fokind Hospital and @asiantrekking for being so supportive of my journey."

Zhang is from the city of Chongqing, Zhong, Southwest China, and lost her sight at the age of 21 due to glaucoma.

However, this did not prevent him from pushing himself to climb the highest mountain in the world.

I've also seen him say that his inspiration came from Erik Weihenmayer, a blind American mountaineer who successfully climbed Everest in 2001.

"Today I'm sitting here thinking about Eric, who inspired me to dream and work hard, and I've finally achieved it," he said.

Zhang trained with his friend Qiang Zi, who is also a mountain guide, by carrying a 30-kilogram bag as he climbed the steps of the Tibetan hospital where he works as a masseuse.

He also attempted to climb shorter peaks in China before climbing Everest in May this year.
