Is Finding Love Still Possible In These Times?
INTRODUCTION
My brother and I were having a conversation a few days back about someone we knew who couldn’t stick to one partner, he had numerous girlfriends even though he claimed to have “a serious one” which he loved amongst the rest and the most shocking thing was that most of these girls were aware he had a girlfriend which he planned on marrying but didn’t care.
My brother because of certain factors like this has chosen to believe that love in this generation is as rare as finding a red wolf and who could blame him? we live in a generation where the word “love” is constantly misused and abused and most people don’t even know what it means or care enough to respect it.
WHAT LOVE IS DEFINED AS
Now I truly wouldn’t blame people who misuse the word “love” because dictionary.com defines it as having a feeling of warm personal attachment and deep affection for someone and affection is defined as having a fond attachment to someone and in my opinion when I think about love, I don’t immediately think attachment because attachment is the state of being attached or bond to someone and it just makes love feel like a cage and when people feel locked, they try to break out but then again maybe I am putting too much on love.
WHAT LOVE IS TO ME
Well love to me has constantly been shown through sacrifice and it is what I try to reflect. It is putting someone else’s happiness ahead of yours and caring for someone enough not to ever want to see them hurt just like my mother did over and over. Loving someone to me is like loving myself and I would never intentionally want to hurt myself so when I choose to love someone I would never want to hurt them.
I feel like a better definition/some attributes of love falls under 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and for those who aren’t Christian, it says love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.
IS FINDING LOVE STILL POSSIBLE IN THESE TIMES?
Is breathing oxygen or eating food possible? If it is then finding love is possible. Even though my generation is filled with a lot of self-pleasing people, you can find a lot of people who are happy and loving right, you can still see a lot of functioning relationships who are ready to go the distance, and that on its own proves that it is possible.
I am not saying it would be easy while you search or wait to be found but I am saying that it is worth it when done right and like every good thing, it doesn’t come easy but when you find it, it is always worth it.

I wouldn't really say one can't find true love, but a verbose, uncertain or unclear priorities are why it's difficult, I'm a guy so I wouldn't say it's the fault of any gender, I haven't though, irrespective of how clear my priorities are. Sometimes I feel exposure to the right people often helps too.

I think it's just hard to find it and obviously, it's not based on a particular gender.
I think keeping your eyes and being open-minded also plays a big role in finding love, I've heard most people say that the moment they stopped looking for a specific type of person, they found true love.
If you liken finding love to breathing oxygen or eating food then surely I would have found love many times and still crave for more..
I don't think it's impossible to find true love. Sometimes true love exists around us but we just don't acknowledge it. We go after lust or try to impose that love on others.
Love is beautiful, love is exactly as you put it in your words. It can be defined in any way because everyone sees us and experiences love differently.

It's unfortunate Love in this our generation is becoming hard and harder to find, it's either they're after money (girls) or they're after your body (guys), but like breathing oxygen and eating food we will not give up!

I think you can give love to others base on your capabilities. When a man does not have a loving heart, he cannot give love.
In the real sense, love is difficult to find in these times. That is not to say that love does not exist.

I've never for once agreed with others who say true love doesn't exist, I'm even of the thought that a kdrama true love does exist too 🤣 if you do watch their movies, you'd know what I'm saying.
Your own definition of love is very valid and I agree with you. Love is all about selfless sacrifice and care.

Love means sacrifice and I would agree with you that it is showing care to someone just as you have cared for yourself. The perfect definition of love is in 1 Corinthians 13:4 which you have quoted. To me, true love still exist and if one is patient, would find it.

I couldn't agree less with your definition of love... Love is all about sacrifice.. You can't claim to love someone when you ain't willing to make sacrifices.
Finding love is still very possible although it will be very difficult... We made it difficult ourselves because most people now prefer being with someone for their money and not for love...
I hope we would change our mentality towards love sooner that expected...

Most people also prefer sexual preference over love so it's a both way thing.

Sure.. I almost forgot about that.. Most persons ain't in relationship nowadays because of love rather because of the sexual satisfaction attached to it
