En oportunidades pasadas he hablado de lo mucho que me gustó viajar a Mérida hace unos años y pasar 15 días por allá pero no les he contado sobre otro viaje que disfruté bastante y realmente fue bastante divertido, fue cuando por trabajo tuve que ir a la capital del estado Trujillo y créanme cuando les digo que fue asombroso estar en esas tierras porque su gente, sus calles, su gastronomía, todo es perfecto, al menos lo fue para mí.

In past opportunities I've talked about how much I enjoyed traveling to Merida a few years ago and spending 15 days there but I haven't told you about another trip that I enjoyed quite a lot and it was really quite fun, it was when I had to go to the capital of the state Trujillo for work and believe me when I tell you that it was amazing to be in those lands because its people, its streets, its gastronomy, everything is perfect, at least it was for me.
Este hermoso estado que está ubicado al oeste del país es parte de La Cordillera de Los Andes junto a Mérida y Trujillo, acá es donde abunda el frío en nuestro país y a los sitios donde nosotros, los que vivimos en las ciudades calientes, siempre deseamos ir.
Pero, como cuando fui para Mérida también pasó, yo no visité esta ciudad por diversión sino por trabajo y me quedé un poco más por diversión. En esa oportunidad, como la vez pasada, tenía buena compañía y les contaré algo divertido que nos pasó en ese momento que deseamos subir al Monumento de La Virgen de la Paz.
This beautiful state that is located in the west of the country is part of the Andes Mountains next to Merida and Trujillo, this is where the cold abounds in our country and where we, who live in the hot cities, always want to go.
But, as when I went to Mérida it also happened, I did not visit this city for fun but for work and I stayed a little longer for fun. On that occasion, as last time, I had good company and I will tell you something funny that happened to us at that time that we want to go up to the Monument of La Virgen de la Paz.
El cuento comienza de la siguiente forma: A mi me gusta ver todo, comer de todo y comprar de todo cuando ando de viaje y en ese momento había escases de efectivo en el país, así que andaba con muy poco efectivo y cuando por fin ubicamos los vehículos para subir a la montaña donde se ubica el monumento, nos quedaba muy poco efectivo pero la persona que sube al cerro contigo, debe bajarte, él nos esperó y nos hizo el favor de bajarnos por el mismo precio porque, ¿qué chiste tenía subir y no ir dentro del Monumento?
Tristemente, no tengo fotografías ni vídeos de ese viaje porque todos quedaron dentro de un disco duro que se dañó por un problema eléctrico y no hubo forma de recuperar pero fue épica la subida, a las personas de la ciudad de donde vengo siempre nos echan broma porque somos de una manera que particularmente llama la atención, sobre todo a las personas de Los Andres venezolanos, no sé porqué.
Una vez arriba, pagamos la entrada y quedaban un aproximado de 15 minutos para subir, ver todo y bajar porque llegamos tarde porque no sabíamos la hora de cierre, así que subimos super rápido, vimos a través de los ojos del monumento y cuando ya íbamos bajando, iba subiendo un guía a asegurarse que nadie quedara dentro encerrado porque estaban por cerrar y recordaron que nosotros habíamos entrado hace poco, ¿se imaginan quedar encerrados ahí hasta el otro día? Yo ya me veía saltando por alguna ventana.
Al pasar por las puertas de salida, el señor nos esperaba para llevarnos hasta el pie de la montaña y que, bueno, menos mal que allá todo queda cerca porque nos tocó caminar hasta la posada. Realmente fue una experiencia bastante divertida y de esas que no olvidas porque en el momento te da como miedo, nervios y hasta ganas de vomitar pero luego te ríes mucho de lo tonta que fuiste y te sientes bien porque superaste un miedo que, en mi caso, fue el miedo a las alturas y al encierro.
The story begins as follows: I like to see everything, eat everything and buy everything when I'm travelling and at that time there was a shortage of cash in the country, so I was walking with very little cash and when we finally located the vehicles to go up the mountain where the monument is located, we had very little cash left but the person who goes up the hill with you, must lower you, he waited for us and did us the favour of lowering us for the same price because, what joke did he have to go up and not go inside the Monument?
Sadly, I don't have any photographs or videos of that trip because they were all left inside a hard drive that was damaged by an electrical problem and there was no way to recover it but the climb was epic, people from the city where I come from are always joked about because we are in a way that particularly attracts attention, especially people from Los Andres in Venezuela, I don't know why.
Once we were up there, we paid the entrance fee and there were about 15 minutes left to go up, see everything and go down because we were late because we didn't know the closing time, so we went up super fast, we saw through the eyes of the monument and when we were going down, a guide was going up to make sure that no one was locked in because they were about to close and they remembered that we had entered recently, can you imagine being locked in there until the other day? I could already see myself jumping out of some window.
As we passed through the exit doors, the man was waiting to take us to the foot of the mountain and, well, it's a good thing everything is close by because we had to walk to the inn. It was really a quite funny experience and one of those that you don't forget because at the moment you get scared, nervous and even want to vomit but then you laugh a lot at how stupid you were and you feel good because you overcame a fear that, in my case, was the fear of heights and of the confinement.
