WeekendDIYProject | Bookshelf
Photos featured are from my collection.
Back in March, before any lockdown even started, I was actively into my declutter and refurbish project. It was a project I started back in 2018 and continues on until I'm fully satisfied with the home space I get to enjoy. I must admit though that the lockdown has interrupted my momentum. I would really like to get back to the goals that I have set for home improvement.
We ordered this DIY bookshelf from an online store. First order of business upon unboxing the item was to look for the manual and to count the number of pieces of each of the items. We wanted to be sure that the pieces are complete.
The small items are in one plastic pouch. I felt the need to sort and classify them for easy assembly.
Call it the OC in me but I like seeing stuff organized. Next would be the wood (more of laminated cardboard) pieces.
Once the pieces have been sorted, it was time to start assembling the bookshelf.
It was fairly easy to assemble but a bit tedious. In fact, it took the whole afternoon to put together. So glad I have my daughter to assist me. Some of the pieces looked so much alike it was initially confusing. I'd like to think we did a great job here.
Once all the sides were placed together, it was time for the back panel to be put in place.
We finally finished the DIY bookshelf. It was placed in its corner.
Voila! It has now been occupied by our book collections. Just gotta love DIY projects!

I hate having to build furniture. After all, everything we buy comes already assembled. Why are we expected to build up furniture? No one asks us to assemble the microwave oven or the TV or even the car, when we buy them.
What's so different about furniture? Why can't corporations build it, if we're paying for the finished product already?
Either way, good work on that. It looks quite big.
It actually costs a lot more when it's bought assembled. Plus the delivery fee is bigger too. And yes, it's pretty big and looks really nice now 😁😁😁
But it shouldn't. In my opinion, furniture corporations are running a scam. 😂
Looks like a handy shelf to have to help get organized, a lot of work to put it together but it looks good
I do enjoy DIY occasionally. I used to do it once a week 😁😁😁 there's satisfaction when I see the final output 😊😊😊
I havent done any for a while, but after things return to some form of normal after this virus and we move into a new house then no doubt I will have many DIY projects to do
Nice! It's looking great! I completely agree with your assessment that everything needs to be organised; otherwise it's just chaos!
Some folks do well in chaos though LOL. We still have lots to organize. It doesn't seem to end LOL. Keep safe! :)
this looks great, but it this will take sometime to solve this type of puzzles i think.
SO, this is not a thing for lay like me.
