Some ideas for the CTP dolphin swarm
I would like to share some ideas that I had lately on this subject.
How to grow faster?
If we want to grow faster as a community, we have to make sure that the portion of the reward pool that reaches the users of the community gets bigger. We need to have more Hive Power upvoting the posts of the CTP users.
How can we reach that?
- Make sure that people use all their upvotes
- Favourise votes on people among the community
- Get more Hive Power to vote on the community
- Encourage people to power up
Some ideas to reach these goals...
Our own dlease
Some of us that rather have a lot of HP, lease it out on dlease and get around 14% interests on it. The votes of this leased HP goes out of the community and could be used differently.
What if we would have our own dlease? Let's say we create an account that pays weekly interests for delegated HP. Let's say you delegate 1000 HP to this account and in return you get a weekly payment of 2 HP (this is around 10.4% ROI).
With this account we would upvote posts only from the people of the community. The curation rewards generated like that would be used to pay the weekly paiments. The account itself wouldn't make any profit but the users would get a powerful upvote on their posts. This would allow everybody to grow quicker and all the costs generated for the leasing of the HP would remain in the community.
A major curation trail
To encourage people to use their voting power, we could create a curation trail that would vote before the big account with the delegations. Like that people could follow this curation trail and get their upvotes in before a big upvote of this account. This would increase the curation rewards of everybody on this trail. This would allow to get even bigger upvotes for the authors and it would also increase the curation rewards of everybody following the curation trail.
A ranking to encourage people
We could create a ranking with the HP of the different people within the community to see how we evolve and where we are in respect to others.

Huh... You have really shot a lot of interesting ideas in just a couple of sentences... :)
Education is one of the primary things to do in the community... It is more important to educate others about how to "use the maximum" from this awesome social network and contribute to the community than explaining to them "how it works"... I think that it was always upside-down...
Tech people would try to explain how the blockchain works, with all boring details, and people will react like that... being bored to quitting...
This ^^^^ is the first step...
I would like to see some kind of "round-table" about all this... Maybe organize something like that? I know that there are webinars, but getting more people "under the spotlight" could work... or not? :)
The firs step to through some ideas in the air is always the easiest ;-). The next steps from idea to make something real are much more difficult... It would be nice to have a kind of round-table. We just need to figure out how to do that:-).
You point out a very important apect which is the education part. You are totally right about the explanations. People should just get a tutorial how to do things for maximum output. They don't care about the how and why. This would be an idea for some posts ;-)
exactly... we have to "evolve" from our old-blockchain thinking to the new one... leave reddit idea behind, and go into the new stuff!
We have been playing with the idea of a curation bot and think that would be epic.
I would love to work with @flaxz and @bradleyarrow to see if we could combine efforts into something sizeable.
Would love to go further with these ideas.

These were just some ideas out of the blue but I think it would be great to brainstorm together to see where this would lead.
I am all for growing faster. If we have our own dlease, I certainly would consider it. We have a great curation trail already with @bradleyarrow, have you joined ours already. I am definitely part of the #iamengaged challenge.
Thanks a lot for your comment. I think that you are right to point out that we should use and improve what we have already. At the moment I have my own curation trail with which I support people from Venezuela but I might add this one as well. Thanks for the suggestion!

STOPIt's a good idea in theory but just be careful with it. There is a fine line between supporting a community and having a vote farm for a small group of users.
It would only be a vote farm if it was closed for new people.
No, that would just make it a vote farm accepting entries.
I'm not saying that this is the aim at all as I love the CTP tribe and what is being built here. I'm just saying it's a fine line between curating a group and farming votes so that should be a consideration when this is being put together.
I see the future of blogging here being people just using specific communities rather than trying to be everything. A successful community will need to be supported by a few heavy voters to keep people active and the group will grow from there.
There is a lot more purpose in a Football community than in OCD as the people will interact and post more about a topic they share a passion for. However the big votes are in OCD so a lot of people post to that to follow the money. That won't last forever and a tribe like CTP can be a leader in this done right. Like Leofinance there is great potential around a shared subject.
OCD is a good point. People go where the money is.
You point out something very important here. I believe that such an account should either be based on manual curation or based on upvotes on posts being posted on a certain condenser (CTPtalk). Leofinance is doing that for example with leo.voter. Thanks a lot for your comment!
At leofinance there is the Leo.voter account that upvotes all blogs made from the leofinance.io page. They get advertisement income when people use that site and they then reward those that use the site to write their blogposts.
I think their business model is very interesting since it allows them to generate external income from ad-networks and with this they buy back the token and burn it.
Indeed. I think they are the most mature tribe on this blockchain.
