New Tool to set Hive-Engine Vote Multiplier

avatar

new tool.jpg

A lot of people were using the vote weight multiplier feature in Leodex for different Hive-Engine tokens. This tool allows you to change the vote weight for different tokens.

For example you can upvote a post that carries the #ctp tag with 2%. Setting the vote weight multiplier for CTP to 50, this would give you a 100% upvote in CTP but you would only need a 2% upvote in Hive.

This comes very handy when you want to optimize curation for Hive-Engine tokens without depleting your Hive voting power.

Since there were these problems with Hive-Engine a couple of weeks ago, this tool has unfortunately not been working anymore on Leodex.

For some of my projects, I was using this vote multiplier function. Since I couldn't adapt it anymore, for some tokens, the vote weight was starting to get totally drained. There seems to be no service out there that would allow to change these multiplicators and I thought it would be a good idea to have such a tool.

Presenting: The Hive-Engine Vote Weight Multiplier

In many ways I'm quite a beginner when it comes to coding and there are some things that I struggle with. I tried to build this thing and it simply didn't work. Fortunately our coding genius @blainjoines took a look at my code and made the changes so that it becomes totally functional.

This tool is now available for everybody who would like to check the vote weight multiplier and the the voting power for stakable Hive-Engine tokens.

This tool also allows you to change the vote weight multiplier using Hive-Keychain.

How to use the tool

To check your actual Vote Weight Multiplier

Enter your username without @, select the currency you want to check and submit.

The tool will show you your actual vote weight multiplier and also the actual voting power for the selected token.

To set a new vote weight multiplier

Enter your username without @, select the currency and define the vote weight multiplier between 1 and 50.

If you set the vote weight multiplier to 1, this means that you will vote in this token with the same weight than you vote in hive.

If you set the vote weight multiplier to 2, this means that if you vote with 20% on Hive, you will vote with 40% on this token.

You need to confirm the transaction with Hive-Keychain.

Hey, this is awesome, Achim! Was looking for an alternative myself... Although there was one, but I guess I'm too lazy to look in my archive to see what it is and if it still works. Hope your site will handle the influx of new traffic it'll get from people looking to tweak their multipliers. Thanks for taking the initiative and making it public! ;)

Thanks a lot for your feed-back. I was looking for a long time to find an alternative. In the end, it seemd easiest to simply build one myself ;-)

Wow!! Thanks for creating this!
I was always curious is it possible to do decimal entries?
like 1.5, or is it 1,5? Or it's not possible at all?

Edit: You can add LIST token also... ;)

The default value for vote multiplier is 1.0. So I think it works with decimals. I've added it as a list to select from, in order to avoid problems with , or .

I've just added LIST token as well ;-)

Nice work. I guess it will be very useful for people who use the Multiplier feature.

Having separate accounts for each token is the preferable way for me to maintain this. I'm not very comfortable using this multiplier feature.

I agree with you that it is easier to deal with this with seperate accounts. I'm doing this as well. However I had set some multipliers and couldn't get them changed anymore :-). Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you heaps for building this. I have been in withdrawals since the LEODEX tool broke, and this is a tool I'm very grateful for.

My only feedback would be to allow a custom input, so I could specify a number not on the drop-down list (eg 15, or 7.5, or whatever)

Other than that, it's a huge help.

Cheers,

JK.

Thanks a lot for this info, I will look at it and see whether I manage to change it wihout braking the code LOL

Hey @achim03 that's a neat little tool. I just used it to set my CTP upvote to "2". I guess that means that I use less Hive power upvoting on CTPTalk, while my CTP vote strength stays the same. Is that right?

Exactly. When you vote with 50% on peakd with hive, you will leave a 100% upvote with CTP. It kind of multiplies your hive vote. With this tool you can actually curate several hive-engine tokens without running out of Hive Power.

Great tool, I was missing it on leodex.
It would be great if you ask input from user instead giving some multiplier options. I need to set a custom number which isn't in the list. Thanks :)

Thank you very much, Achim. I have a question for you, though. Does this only work in peakd (there the base token is HIVE) or does it work in reverse, too. In other words, if I upvote a LEO post on leofinance (where the base token is LEO) for 100% and my multiplier is 2, does it only vote at 50% for HIVE?

When you have a vote multiplier on, you simply vote with a lower percentage on all front ends. You would vote with 50% on Leofinance and it would give you a 100% vote worth in Leo. You can see it already when you cast your vote on the vote value. If you move the bar, you will reach the maximal amount before the end of the bar.
